  1. We are almost done. Some trim work, finishing the desk and computer setup. More mounts. Beverage cooler. Then done.
  2. You can't. It's because despite what the clowns say on the phone. They don't have them yet. They're not even scheduled to be at Gander until after the first week of Sept.... Gander is the most dysfunctional business I've ever seen. You'll get them, eventually, but don't count on them pre-season. If you get them in September count your stars. When you place the order it'll tell you the expected date of Sept 8-10, but that is really when the distribution begins. I got in some Reveals this week finally but its like lightning in a bottle.
  3. It's part of the process. I am personally slow as hell with it but I am OK with that. that said, we've field processed deer hanging on trees off a rope with no major issue. I also admit to really only like ground and backstraps. Tenderloins would rank third for me. Not a huge fan or roasts, etc. Not sure why. I actually like the hanging method to gut. With my bad back, bending over to traditionally field dress is about the least favorite thing I can think of hunting-wise. Once they are up, it's pretty easy to dress them and have everything land in a nice trash bin/bag. We actually use a wheel barrow underneath for NY deer. Wheel that puppy back behind the shop a bit and there is some predator bait/camera bait lol.
  4. The SIM card just stops the sending of images to the phone. Just look at the SD card and see if pics will be on there. Simple.
  5. That's too open ended. Could be 3, could be 20. Probably somewhere in that range not knowing anything else.
  6. Elite Synergy and Valor Xbow is probably in my future here this week due to ongoing shoulder issues (along with PT tomorrow) 20G H&R Ultra Slug....I would cry if something ever happens to it. Dead grown ass man serious. Cry. CVA Scout and Weatherby in .243 CVA Cascade in 350 L (this may be used in all three states I hunt this year) CVA Wolf / Traditions Vortek ML The Wolf for poor weather or close hunting.
  7. BH209 reigns supreme IMO. Make sure you have the proper breech plug for it. The thought of going back to pellets makes me shudder. SSTs are accurate but they have been through and through with little expansion in my experiences. I've been using the Harvester PT Gold and the Traditions Ridgebacks (I think that is their name) the last few years. No complaints but still not expanding as much as I'd like. Barnes is a popular option.
  8. People who buy this close to season oftentimes have a learning curve, which results in them going back in to the cameras, moving them for RF strength, not knowing the right kind of battery life (it varies due to RF and the mesh network needs), etc. One guy last year bought in October and even after telling him how RF works, still set two cams in the middle of his chain on opposite military crests on each side of a hill peak. Was upset the cams down line were not sending and "had" to go in to fix it busting up an area he wanted to keep clean. This scenario plays out time and time again when people wait til the last second. It's not the system, it's the user. The user needs time.
  9. I don't suggest people get into Cuddelink for the first time, at this time of year. I sell alot of Cuddelink and I'll steer my clients off based on experience around Aug 1. The system works, but people need to learn how to use and get it just right. Anyone who has critiqued the platform that bought from me has bought during or just before the season. That has been very consistent.
  10. Be leary of shipping times from GO. They forecast Sept 8-10 timeframe, so it could be much later based on experience. I have had customers relay they ordered in May and got them in July.
  11. He is starting to show signs of weakness....he's been on cam between 5-530AM a few times this week. He cannot be far from bed. I've not had encounters with half blind bucks let alone a mature one. I'd like to just see how he moves and acts in the woods. Fascinated by it. He is quite social at times - pics of him with a young buck but also another 3 or 4 year old, too. Lately he has been more solo in past week.
  12. I'd like to just relax and enjoy the time. Hunting hard is part of that journey but it's not the purpose. Work has been obnoxious the past 3-6 months so I'd like a diversion. Last season was uber enjoyable and a repeat would be awesome. I'd like my hunting partner to smack one out of state. He is due. My 2020 turkey and deer mounts are nearing completion in the next month or so, and that will just be fun to slide into the 2021 deer season riding a high.
  13. We have a few deer bigger to chase than him thankfully but I kind of want this guy to be my focus. Half blind and Underhill can use the rest of his blind buck materials on him ha. Cool deer, definitely exhibiting a rack structure - the opposite side being messed up from his blind eye. Curious to see if it was an injury because that would make sense. Going to need some luck. Entry and exit are not ideal but maybe we can get it done.
  14. We have material work left. One property here in NY needs several stands put up and or moved. The others are maintenance - straps, safety checks, and clearing. Ohio....alot of work left to do there. No stands up and I believe our philosophy is going to set up a few key stands and make moves from there. Two farms with very different terrain and land features. We have ideas of bedding on one but the other is an enigma still. Luckily we can assemble and store stands ready to go at the farm and move with purpose. Missouri - that is 100% hang and bang. Layout is good for it, and in rifle season, ground hunting has as much promise as sitting in a stand. We only set up four stands there last year and took them down; the second moves for two of them put us in the money. This year, our learning curve should be much shorter.
  15. I made him promise that he had to hunt with an xbow this season. Also, he has to take the vax and say “Biden is my Daddy” when he kills a deer this fall and post it here to the forum. Basically, he signed his soul over. Obviously joking.
  16. No, the math probability remains the same. Doesn’t matter first or last day while DMPs are open.
  17. I used to think like that about loyalty to the employer but I’ve shifted over the past few years. Loyalty is earned by treating employees in a way they choose to stay. In today’s market, you have to find the solution. Pay, WFH, flexible scheduling, creating a fun, purpose driven workplace is going to do the trick. The agile companies find a way. The ones who talk about loyalty - those are the ones in trouble. The fear of a downturn doesn’t exist in foreseeable future according to most people. It doesn’t drive their decision. If we come out of the pandemic the post pandemic run is going to be huge from a growth POV and it’ll last years. If we linger in the pandemic like now or it gets worse….the govt has shown it will support people. No rent money? No problem. Student loans? Don’t pay them. Need some money for cigs and GL? Here you go. We would need a collapse of epic proportions for these “overpaid” people to be worried. And even then, they’d find the next job because there are more jobs than those who want them. We’re 10.1 million jobs in the hole right now as a nation.
  18. I think it will benefit the consumer more down the line - it is speeding up automation. Necessity is the mother of all invention. Reduces Ops cost and scales faster. My business units have four bots now in the past 24 months.
  19. Just being where I am, WFH is a $3K per yea replay for me, plus the time savings. It is bananas right now.
  20. So…I posted pics of the mounts on Full Range Systems in their Social Media contest and I won. Won a single system. Sweet!
  21. I've seen some CRAZY stuff in the past two weeks and it feels and looks like just the beginning of a wave. Entry, mid, and high level all seem to be in play here. Wage escalations, increased transactions. Those in jobs are changing jobs at a fast pace - I have extremely unique insight into this on a national level. My team transacts benefits for a very large number of employers across the country. Employees are moving company to company at a rate I have never seen before - and I have been leading that for a large company for 7 years now. The term being used on multiple levels, is the Great Resignation.
  22. I have shortages of talented people who want to work.
  23. I hate wading into these political convos - ultimately that is what it turns into. Here I go anyway. I tried to give benefit of the doubt, but Biden's response in the interview with ABC was abhorrent. That interview convinced me that he is not fit to be president, and I do not mean due to being foggy. Instead, I saw a President who refused to learn, acknowledge, and deflected. Then, he showcased why the world has noted this moment as a transitioning of the balance of power. Leaving US people behind, preventing their safe passage, and totally failing at helping those who helped us is a message to the world that we cannot be trusted nor relied upon. Instead he is throwing his hands up in the interview saying nothing could have been done differently to prevent getting into this situation. How about you focus on salvaging the situation? Complete failure. Democrats are going to hang him out to dry and put in an aggressively left replacement at some point, whether it's sooner or later at the next election cycle. Republicans should be out to capture the hearts and minds of America. Now.
  24. Assume positive intent - however, my perception is that something went awry. Either money stability changed and they won't admit it, or something went belly up with the kids one or the other. I can't think of much else that would drive that - esp with the part about the plane ticket. That are two data points of consistent actions (as opposed to words). Either they don't like your daughter (or something changed), or finances hit home. They're willing to break their word over this, so it is material. A conversation would be prudent if approached well and with positive intent. Weddings, while important celebrations, have been the one area where people seem OK to spend a pile of money on but not many people question whether the spend is worth it vs. average cost. People make the event...not the money spent on it.
  25. Noticing a big shift in activity. Bucks specifically shifting - off minerals (in Ohio) and changing food sources here. Both happening at same time.
