  1. If it's not blazing With reflective clips I'm lost...on 75% of my own stands...I do go in in the pitch but yeah I'm worthless
  2. Tough year for the weekend warrior weather wise, not to mention solunar duds as well (for all who reference it).
  3. I haven't even seen a scrapper squirrel today...this stand is about to get the nix for the year
  4. I was in at 6:11 poured the entire hour before first light. Wanted to hit the lease after Monday's action but I got to be home by 10. Old faithful on county hope for some luck
  5. My entire family lived in PA til recently for a while the guys I met on the small parcels were the only "hunting buddies" I had up here. We text while we are hunting and keep each other informed. I also offer up my standard ladder stands. I figure it's free scouts on already pressured deer, and no one takes me up on it anyway. What's the difference it's public land anyway. I'm like this with any other friendly seemingly responsible hunter I come across. Do onto others and whatnot. Not too mention my info isn't as good as I think it is anyhoo! Got my best archery buck (my avatar) in a stand in Hewitt State Forest...told all my local "buddies" how to get there.
  6. I've had the opposite happen where they locked-up...I am not my father when it comes to maintaining my stuff so i blame myself more than Lw...how old is your stand?
  7. Man I hear you guys Not sure you are hearing me. I do not hunt when my phone tells me too...more like when my wife says I can I use most recent woodsman information (what I can manage to get while being in charge of 2 small children sometimes 24/7 for more than days st a time when my wife travels). then while I'm out there I compare my sightings to the peaks...in my many many anecdotal observations the peaks are a time to be extra alert. I hunt by Opportunity, MRI, Weather, and finally I check the solunar for a potential boost of motivation...in that order not the reverse. If I can get a peak in a midday it gives me some hope vs almost no hope...I was hunting the midday cuz I had the chance, the app gave me a little boost.
  8. Strickland helix 125r + 75 insert is 200 upfront on 520 total...I love them and they shoot great but I try to keep inside 25 with this heavy set Every deer I've shot died within 3 yards without knowing what happened first was a 2.5 buck through the scapula ridge on the way in..passed thru like thru jelly This ones been through 2 deer:
  9. Lightening chased me out of the woods it was nice while it lasted. Saw some cool woodpeckers.
  10. I did state that I do not preclude lulls as hunting times...I hunt them just the same when conditions and opportunities dictate. I also mentioned most of my harvest are in the obvious "daily peaks" of 2 hours past Sunup and 90 minute prior to sundown. While I am hunting I stay aware of what phase I'm in by using the app. Sometimes it keeps me in the tree longer. Many times I notice more squirrel or coon or fox or yote or turkey activity during those periods, not only deer Been using this app as a reference for like 6 or 7 seasons and as I said before i can go back in time and check all my past harvests vs the solunar. When resorting to a midday out of rut I would like to have any perceived advantage I can to help motivate me to hunt well in a Hail Mary situation.
  11. Used the rain spell to move up the ridge quite a bit to another first time stand I have permission on Got in ninja style and I'm smelling deer
  12. I can go back in time on this app and confirm more than 75% of my harvest fall close to a daily peak zone...mostly on the edges of the day as well. I don't exclude hunts with it, I try to use most recent info + weather conditions and if I can choose between a peak period or lull I do. For a midday only hunt which is by far the lowest percentage of success outside the rut I really would prefer a peak. In my anecdotal observations I have found other animals move less on the troughs as well.
  13. Zero expectations besides a nice quiet sit..spent absolute minimum energy getting in
  14. Snuck out for the peak while the kids are at school... Buddy set me up again with one of his spots right behind our houses
  15. Had a buck encounter that led me to believe he was scent checking/eyeballin for does...he was set up on a ridge overlooking fresh scrapes nothing moved him from that location even picking up on my local and knowing something was up...he just bedded for the 2.5 hours I was there. seen bucks chase doe in a field a few days back.
  16. Just read an article about national parks enforcing poo & used TP pack out because the recent trend in outback adventuring has turned places like Yellowstone and El Capitan into mine fields of crap. Good luck out there this AM folks
  17. Halfsies on this too and we can hunt anywhere we want... https://www.iconaircraft.com/a5
  18. Sweet taste of victory...it's a little better when it's tense fur a while and you score anyway!
  19. Man if it wasn't Fritos on the ground i would have...he stayed bedded back there the entire hunt with his nose pointed toward my stand (well downwind of him) but I believe sleeping as even a bunch turkeys crossing past him (3 waves of massive birds) did not get him up. I was waiting for turkeys at 15 yds to hit my lane but ESP influenced their decisions...they gave me a walking 30 and an enternity of 40 yarders that I passed. This was my first prime time hunt at the lease and first time in that stand...gonna set a summit hawk up the ridge 55 yards...next time! Game animals surrounded me the entire hunt...felt like I was hunting with your cohort for a while there...(minus phades booner).
  20. Dude is up there bedded hasn't moved his head in ages is he sleeping head up
  21. Didn't just feel deery smelled deery when I got up here 3 scrapes in range... was getting my gloves on when I noticed I was being stared at by a good buck...that lasted 10 mins tho I did manage to get my release on and bow nicked during the proceedings. woot best night yet
