  1. My truck tires were about 2" sunk in the mud in the field I was parked in at my lease yesterday ...a little hairy there for a second.
  2. I'm not gonna laugh at this... if you were hunting on moogs property (the way that they hunt and manage, not lobbing or sock stalking) you're odds of a P&Y would go up...but that's the rub... It takes a lot of time and effort in the season and the offseason to maintain deer habitat and scout/hunt it properly without moving deer out. Paying someone to take you in front of animals is a cool experience but is definetly not even a fruit compared to fair chase deer managing. I feel your frustration your opportunities are limited to mostly weekends and this season that really sucks.
  3. I hear ya biz... I just don't think whitetails fair chase is your favorite type of hunting because it is less active for the hunter and sightings can be dismal for weeks if your not on a preserve or with a guide. Ofcourse there are places where less pressure means more sightings and sometimes even less sketchy deer, but give them a reason to be cagey and they will. To me since you brought it up paid baited hunts are the worst...my dad has harvested 3 pocono black bear targeted (not coincided with deer season) in 10 years fair chase from a tree stand. I understand why they bait both for pop control in states like jersey or up in Canada where the woods are real big. I just don't care for it.
  4. I'm always talking fair chase. Whitetails are super-cagey and IMO the 2 hardest places to hunt them are big woods and suburbs. They are so good at avoiding humans that in large tracts it's nearly impossible to beat them (ask Maine hunters). In the suburbs they know exactly whose shrubs they can eat at night and who's got apples and table scraps out back. In ag country they are more predictable but still you don't see 10 whitetail bucks bedded within 50 yds of each other. Im not trying to pile on but I do think North Eastern Whitetails are the best game animal in NA.
  5. Seen zero tonight but I heard a commotion scrapes are open and fresh rubs everywhere: If your hunting days get washed out consider hanging a good set and prepping your lanes with hot doe piss...this weather has been beyond tough
  6. APA mamba I have the mamba air tf but I like em really short. Really light, really quiet, really fast, easy tune, string change on the fly no press, integrated bow hook, single or dual cam...call them and talk to the CEO to get set up. website is temp down while they update the product guide. https://www.apaarchery.com/
  7. I love ya biz but those Muleys are as dumb a door nail...it's possible to field stalk whitetails, just really, really, really hard
  8. Straps are done I'm going hunting (for turkey or doe) will resume with hinds tomorrow:
  9. Just spotted this stuff same place i scored the Narwhal for 13.59... stopped in for the freezer paper but you know...
  10. Something's gotta give: What do you think thin out a couple narwhal so they fit and then start cutting?
  11. Live from the bathroom just found a deer tick crawling on my leg...haven't been in the woods in 4 days skinned that buck same day. wtf
  12. I think I'm finally getting moogs motives here...get everyone to blow up there spots by midrutt! teehee, that is a sweet pic, it's tough to get everyone looking at the camera in group photos (retroactive bonus pts) Ill be in the woods trying to get on the board in the selfie slam this afternoon after some meat cuttin
  13. How many points if biz gets a selfie with a midtown bobcat... pics need to highlight scorable assets...
  14. Bodhi got a grilled neck... he is spoiled
  15. Thanks I have been checking the dec site fur a week with no update...maybe it was a cache/cookies thing...sorry for the redundant thread
  16. DEC a little late posting this year: https://www.dec.ny.gov/outdoor/6399.html
  17. Sounds like all muscle/scapula to me if she went 600 yards the next time you see her will likely be from the same stand. Deer often recover from muscle hits and even broken bones. That said be listening for coyotes and crows when you get back to last blood if the blood trail got washed out. It happens good luck and if you lose her you did gain 600 yds of deer escape route knowledge. Lots of bowseason left best time of year to be hunting.
  18. My experience is the longer it gets good temps + air the better "jerky layer" you get on the outside, not real thick but easier to filet than a couple dozen bluegills. I have never hung in a fridge but I am really excited to let my wife get a new one for the kitchen (this one is sooo dated!).
  19. If I get a good doe this season I'm gonna get a recommendation from someone here and get some exotic or deli processes done... But I really do enjoy taking a few days off from the stand and listening to music, sharpening my knife skills and savoring the harvest...beats the drag but I kinda like that part too.
