  1. I've actually streamlined a bit from past seasons: 6 Summit Talon Brackets w/3 Summit Hawk HangOns = 6 sets 2 Ladder Stands 1 Lone Wolf Climber Those are all for me at 3 primary hunting parcels: 150 acre Public (4 other regulars) 450 acre Public (6 other regulars) 60 acre Private Lease (just me) Just gave away my 9 yr old Summit Open Shot Climber to my buddy while we were hanging/moving stands today. Perfect weather for it this am, 50 and light rain:
  2. 17 yards full quarter away through some junk: My 2nd & 3rd arrow groups have been terrible past few days I've suspected some torque so I adjusted my grip 1st arrow 10, 2nd at 15, final arrow at 20: Oh yeah, it was also a cooler morning than the past two November 2nd's I've hunted.
  3. 19 yards broadside: Also finally figured a workaround to the sideways pics
  4. 18 yards quartering hard 500 grains 16% up front that should be DRT
  5. STC is in the deer 21 yards altogether not a good morning session:
  6. STC is in the deer, from 16 yards 12 feet uphill:
  7. All my hunting the past 9 seasons is finger lakes 1900-2000ft ridge hunting with anywhere from mildly sloped ridgetops grading to steep and sheer for miles of long cliff ridges, or folding overlapping secondary ridges and connecting contours at varying elevations off of meandering drainage crevaces and gorges that meander down the stepped/sloped/steep topography from 2000-1400 ft. Though the deer can literally go straight up the steepest ravines they enjoy traveling (I assume because of ease, wind favor and cover) across these connecting ridge bowls and basins that cross the gorge/stream and it is always thick with active scrapes. The ones just out side the impenetrable thickets just by bedding always seem to be awesome for sightings/harvests on bright crisp days, otherwise they are cyclones.
  8. Getting there in the legal light pm session: STC from 19 yards 12ft uphill: 2 more from same spot: Next 3 from 22yards 5 ft uphill shot thru a vane: Micro from 10 yards level to confirm I'm just slightly dropping: All is well again so I went from home archery to driving range after legal light:
  9. 23 yards 12' downhill, ugh still august thankfully:
  10. 6mm FMJ currently shooting .320 & .390 until I get fully dialed in. 27" AMO total weight around 500gr about 15% FOC.
  11. My first STC thread offering w/my new APA Mamba Air TF: 20 yards out 8ft downhill:
  12. After 5 seasons w/lighter 2blade mechanical heads and arrows I am switching it up completely. 125gr Strickland Helix w/75gr inserts on 6mm FMJs (shooting both 320&390 spine for now as I get my new bow fine tuned). 480 - 540gr total w/about 14-16% FOC
  13. I'm in a ladder in 7j...good luck if you are out!
  14. Congrats to all the late harvests! On my way out in about an hour for my final pm sit of 2016. Probably do a little DMFA in January but this is likely it for local.
  15. Just met my personal challenge getting my angry Hunter ass out for late season.
  16. If it's gonna be this dead around here today I might have to take the xbow out for a walk.
  17. I'm a died-in-the-wool tree stand hunter...and I loathe guys like this morning who show up at 20-of legal or later to take a 500yd walk. Today he walked right into their security zone (off the public) and fired (and apparently missed at 7:07) only to do a short lap and head home prior to 8am. I was in my stand where I could see the lot I observed his entry/exit. That said the only in-range deer I saw all season were on the ground and my one harvest was a spot and stalk. Literally all my "action" in gun was on the ground on my feet. Anyway even though I agree with you I must say not having ambushed an unaware deer from an elevated perch has left me feeling unfulfilled. Doubt I'll take the xbow out much and my bow needs restrung before it sees anymore action. Nice work harvesters! Man that soft winter has led to a lot of meat hangin! Good luck
  18. As much as I've heard about a wardens unlimited jurisdiction, I've also heard of them taking a ton of sh!t from people without doing anything. All of the bandits getting over on warden stories I know are from PA tho.
  19. As far as Hunting Mad 2016 goes, from my experience it would be more of a tragic comedy or just a blooper reel.
  20. Well if that is you congrats on that 7:07 kill probably my target buck you keep cutting me off from during your 6:55 walk in...ugh...good luck all
  21. Im up so I'm about to head out...sw wind hopefully I won't smell all slobos cigs today.
  22. Well I fired three shots before made it to my stand...had I not been delaying at home and then had I not got caught up with a DeC officer right as I popped in off the road onto fresh tracks I'd have been sitting here when they arrived instead of the other way around ugh. 30 yds broadside running thru mid density woods I led her but nothing connected tracked them 200 yds to property edge. Gonna sit in this ladder til 4:29 as reminded by the officer, that may close the book on this long ugly season. Very thankful for my blind squirrel doe harvest last week but a year to put to rest for sure.
  23. Swirling gusts of flurries otherwise dead queit. Nothing like the smell of another hunters cig at first light...then 10mins after that...10 mins after that etc...
