Shorty AR in 5.56 Bolt gun in 308 with 18" heavy barrel Glock 17 Forgot the why...AR bc im very effective with it, even a 14.5" is a easy 200 yard gun. Bolt gun for longer range precision taking of zombies. Glock for when they get extra close. All shoot very common easy to get ammo, and the ar and glock mags are also easy to come by.

Maybe you dont think so. But you carry one long enough and a conventional rifle seems off.

Hard to get there when main beams are only a shade over 10". G2s on 4". Shouldve let it walk... -
I would definitely choose a thorsan stock over a spur grip. And as long as thete are no other scary features that is another route to go.

Look at ruger american predators, very accurate and very affordable. Ill be picking one up in lefty one of these days.

Ill measure it up and post the score. -
Ill be working the clarence gun show with dds ranch this up coming weekend. You should stop by and check out all the differant rifles. Putting a lower together takes maybe 30min, the upper is the part where you need specific tools for the barrel nut, and torquing it down right. I hunt yotes with a ar, loading and unloading isnt that bad, its like if u were hunting with a bolt gun with no detachable mag. Once you buy one however you will want more...i just picked up 2 striped lowers that i have to figure out what i want to make.

Anyone own one of these ?
Gencountyzeek replied to Water Rat's topic in Guns and Rifles and Discussions
This is true, as long as the riffle has no other features. Pistol grip, collapsible stock, forward grip, bayonet lug, threaded muzzle, flash hider, muzzle break. If u have any of those plus a detachable mag the rifle is a assualt weapon (watch out it may try to harm you). They made the law that way to essentially ban ar type rifles. Then the pinned mag came along and spur grips, and thorsen stocks. Now speed loaders for pinned mags make realoding as fast as dropping a mag. -

Im not looking to argue, i just know from my ffl whos main business is AR rifles the mag lock is not legal. He has to know the laws its his business. He has had lawyers call him to explain the details of the safe act. I work gun shows with him so i have to know what im talking about too. I think its all stupid and should go away but that aint happening anytime soon. As far as breaking the rifle into a upper and lower again. If the lower is complete (pistol grip, trigger group etc) and has no mag in it technicly its illegal. The lower is the registerd part of the gun, it is the firearm. So it would be illegal to have a pistol grip with a detachable mag. Agai i think its all horse poop. Also im sure 80% of the police force could care less as long as your not acting like an a$$ with the gun. -
My brother in laws mother in law just got her permit. We went to cabelas to check out small pistols. I have the smith and wesson bodyguard, she tried that, the lcp2 and on of the single stack glocks. She liked the glock best but couldnt pass up the price of the ruger. The trigger on the ruger makes me want to sell my smith. For a tiny summer carry gun you cant go wrong with the ruger.

I have a fair anount of knowledge when it comes to the AR world. The maglok is not legal in nys, in fact atleast 10 people have been arrested because of it. The way the safe act explains it the magazine cannot be removed easily with hand tools. Thats why if you buy a AR with the mag pinned from a dealer if they want to keep their ffl it will have epoxy over the allen head screw in the mag release. As far as "building" an ar or buying a already built one, you can save alot of money buy putting a upper together with a lower. I would look into uppers from aero precision. Goid prices and good quality. For speed loaders for fixed mags look at Bear flag defense speed loaders, better built than the mean arms. -

I killed a dewalt impact doing 3 decks. I went to makita and have been very happy. If i were to buy again Milwaukee would be my choice, if i wanted to save some money rigid would be the one. My uncle flips a few houses a year, complete gut and redo's. He uses rigid after being fed up with dewalt.
