Crappy day to sit in the tree, so i figured to give the tree rats a try. Took about 1.5 hrs, but i managed to get my 6. All head shots but 1, right shoulder out the opposite side stomach. Time to fry some squirrels!

How much do you shoot your deer rifle/shotguns
Gencountyzeek replied to Buckmaster7600's topic in Rifle and Gun Hunting
Using a new rifle this year, so ive put 40rds through it so far. Just put a new trigger in it so id like to put another box through to get a feel of the trigger. But in the 1st 20rds i was shooting sub 1" groups @100yds, and just over 3" at 300yds. Love the gun! -
Well my brother in law has to b cursed by hunting gods. I dat 10 yards from him rhis a.m. and did rattling for him. No deer, ive seen deer almost all mornings this year. So our buddy stopped by around lunch to get his boat stored in my barn. Asked if he wanted to stay for a afternoon hunt, he has his bow and borrowed some of my camo. We all walk in together, as soon as i split off to go to my stand a doe gets up 20 yards from the stand i was going to and runs away. We all get settled in and i have a button buck feeding in front then he beds down. 15 min later a spike moves through. Then my buddy saw a 4pt. My brother in law nothing... cursed he is.

Hooter in the pic. Just had a yote coming through, moved my rattling antlers and they hit my climber and off he went. Still tryin to get a deer for my bil, plenty of predators in this area.

Not a polaris quad fan, but for shear speed, the outlaw with the ktm 525 in it always intrigued me. Or if your trail riding alot try and find a honda 700xx. Road my renegade 800xcc with a buddy on the hatfield mccoy trails that had a 700xx, nice quads with irs.

Id say it comes down to the rest of the truck. If u put a couple grand building up the tranny but the body is rotting out doesnt sound worth it to me. I hate working on my vehicles, so i buy new or as close to new as possible. Like was stated already, 6.4 seems to be a good motor, just thirsty. I thought about getting a power wagon with the 6.4 but getting 13mpg around town scared me away.

I actually shot all my bigger bucks on clear sky days. 2 were very cold mornings but clear skys and sunny, 2 were a warm afternoon hunts, and 2 were warm morning hunts.

Ive tried various scents over the years, ive never liked any of them. I thought about trying a local deer farm like wyoming county whitetail. But im tagged out now other than a dmp, so looks like it will have to wait till next year.

I got ya. We are north of the 90. I have my 40 acre chunk of about 300 acres that makes up our block of woods. Plenty of ag fields all around.
