Me and Dom went out to Wassiac MUA this weekend and cut through some heavy brush. My clothes are permethrin treated and I didn't have one critter. I swear by the stuff. I used a whole bottle (4 times the recommended dose) on my hunting clothes. If one is good four is better.

Only problem I've had so far was that I was posting the map packs by county and after editing the same comment 3 times it didn't let me edit any more. Other than that its been great, Excellent site! Thanks, Andy

I've started a map collection for each county. Easier than doing to the DEC site and going map to map. You get all the maps for Dutchess county from the DEC site on one document. I'll probably expand and do the neighboring counties also. If you have a smart phone save your county maps to your phone so that if you're out in the woods with no signal you can still pull up the maps and check boundaries. If you can get a projector or an old over head projector then cast an image onto the target its a easy way to trace large images. Just an idea.

Ugg, So the first couple of times I went out for squirrel I brought my 14 yr old with me. It was like having a clumsy elephant walking through the woods with you. I'm almost certain thats why I didn't see a dang thing. The last time I went out it was to the LayfayetteVille Multi Use area by my self . it was a great area and would be prime for pheasant or rabbit if I had a dog to chase them around. Some guys were out running a spaniel around and occasionally I'd hear a shot or two. Needless to say I did the old sit and wait in multiple locations and stalked around and didn't see much. I did see a couple does at one point but I didn't like the terrain there. I think next weekend I go back to Hereford minus a noisy 14 yr old. Once we get some snow the squirrels will be more desperate. Right now there fat, lazy and content. What really gets me is out in the woods I don't see one damn thing. then on the drive home I see them every where. Good exercise, not so great hunting.

The 12 gauge is like your multi tool of guns. Theres just so many different loads you can get you can go for all different types of game big or small. The new pumps are lightening fast. I run a winchester SXP and a H&R excell
