  1. Now those particular ones should be eradicated! I'm kind of tolerant of the 'yotes, but I'm not tolerant of any problem wildlife.
  2. I don't want to see them get bold around people's back yards or densely populated suburban areas, but they do have their place in nature. I don't want to see them eradicated. I can hear them every night outside the house. Sometimes close, sometimes far. We've never had a problem, and we keep chickens, have a wandering (spayed) outdoor cat, a little lap dog, etc.
  3. Sorry to hear, Reeltime. Hope they get you straightened out as quick and painlessly as possible!
  4. No, and many great memories from fishing and beach time with my wife and daughters when they were growing up. Lots of downrigger fishing on Lake Ontario. But we could have made many memories just as well camping, shooting, hiking, etc and the land would have been a mature investment right now. Now if I could have the money back from speeding tickets and higher insurance rates from when I drove the T/A, well that may have got me another 20 acres - lol.
  5. When I was in my 20's (1980's) I drove a Trans Am, and had a 20 ft cuddy cabin boat. Land was going for around $500/acre at the time. We had some good family times on that boat, and the kids bring it up fondly. Could of bought 40-ish acres, but I would have had to borrow the money, just like I did for the car and boat. The car and boat are long gone, and the land would be worth at least 2-3X what I paid for it. Probably would have had it logged once or twice since then which would have given me some income. (I had 25 acres of hardwoods logged in 2007 and got just around $10k for that).
  6. I'd go along with that. I bought our first parcel when I was in my 30's. I would have gotten more than I have if I'd have started younger. Those boats and cool cars that ate some of my disposable income are long gone.
  7. Good Lord! I'd faint if that thing ever walked up in front of me!
  8. It's not. Because this isn't high school. In social situations, I encounter BS occasionally. I don't try to call it out or attack the person over it. At least that's just me. I left the "them's fightin words" days behind long ago. I try to subscribe to a statement that a wise old gentleman once told me; "it's better to be silent and assumed an idiot, rather than to open one's mouth and remove all doubt". If a BS'er wants to be thought of as an idiot, then I won't stop them (not that I'm using either of these terms to describe Grow).
  9. So now you'll do to Goosifer the same as you do to Grow? Stalk and threaten? I don't know Grow, but I assume she's a woman and someone said she's older. I was taught to not pick on and harass an older woman (or any woman for that matter). How about just respectfully interacting with others and drop the bully gig? It'll work better for you here and life in general.
  10. Uh-oh Steve, dare I ask why you're calling it your final gun season?
  11. That's your stomping grounds more or less, right? You stay safe too!
  12. I don't get it. On a site where the capital is member postings, you're belittling someone with a very high post count?
  13. Today's the day Biz! If you weren't so far, I'd be on standby to be your cameraman for the field shots. On second thought, I'd pick up Wooly on the way, he's better at it. Don't forget the sponsor jacket!
  14. So, up at 5:00 and feel like I need to get out and take the rifle for a walk. I'm out of deer tags til muzzleloader, but have a bear tag. Have only gotten one trailcam pic of a bear since October, so odds are low. 20 degrees outside, 72 inside with the fire crackling. I'm waffling...
  15. I need a drink. I clicked this expecting to read about a .50 BMG.
  16. Yup, it's a wild thread. Yet I can't look away. I see it in the new post list and click it. Glad I'm not the only one. "Jellied deer lungs" Sounds like a delicacy served at the dinner scene in whichever Indiana Jones movie it was. Lost Ark? I like odd foods, I'd try some.
  17. Yup, what Culver said. Also, there are no more registrations. That ended 2-3 years ago. There's some double talk in the law about being able to if you "didn't know", but the state police will tell you there are no more chances to register.
  18. You're confidence shows in this post, go get him!
  19. Holy crap! Who the heck takes head shots at a decent buck?
  20. "Some stuffed in garbage bags" in the OP. That's a puzzling piece of info. Along with "all were shot".
  21. Now you're talking! Cue hero shot with buck in 3, 2, 1..
  22. Yeah, but what difference does it make? I enjoy reading many posts on here including your's and Grow's posts. Why attack her every time? I don't think her posts harm anything, but some of you guys almost lay in wait for her. It's not like these posts harm a soul, do they? I appreciate this online community, beats the heck out of Facebook. Go ahead, flame away at me for sticking up for her a bit..
