  1. I agree we don't live in a society where we need to hunt for our food to live......this time of year is supposed to be like xmas Everytime we step into the woods.....when you stop enjoying it, and enough is enough, call it quits for the season. When anytime I participate in something that starts to feel like a job and a daily grind I move onto another hobby or project and hopeful the fire gets rekindled. Sent from my XT1254 using Tapatalk
  2. Had to cross this raging creek.....thank God I had the ATV or I would have settled for a stand on the other side rather then try to wade across it.....was above the floor boards and felt like it was pushing the ATV sideways a little.....but anyways I am now settled in my blind overlooking this flat above the creek.....com'on deer just need ya to make a guest appearance now! 3. I agree....the old timers in the camp I hunt always want them hung by the back legs....no clue why just always did what I was told. Sent from my XT1254 using Tapatalk
  4. Looks like a good outfitter.....what's a hunt run? Sent from my XT1254 using Tapatalk
  5. Just two days into the season and that wheel is misfortune is half fun! Sent from my XT1254 using Tapatalk
  6. Will be on the road in a few minutes.....weather has changed drastically since the reports early in the week(go figure).....we may survive this opening morning yet! Stay safe.....and knock'em down boys and girls!!! Sent from my XT1254 using Tapatalk
  7. Here are a few more...after opening the garage door that was my first attempt at the driveway...was able to clear to the road but had to wait 5 days until the high lifts came down and cleared the road for plows to finish off the job. Sent from my XT1254 using Tapatalk
  8. It was god awful! National guard finally made it down our street after 5 days! We had a black cloud snowing over our house non stop....hope this never happens again in my lifetime. Sent from my XT1254 using Tapatalk
  9. Me....30-30 Marlin with 3x9x40 Cabela's scope, with mountain Mike scope caps. Bought this gun off a neighbor when I turned 30(but never hunted with it), just thought it would be a cool gun to own. My wife took her first deer with it at 70 yards in 2012! And i am looking to put another notch in the stock. Dad......270 Browning x-bolt topped with a redfield 3x9x40 scope. My buddy with have his 243 Remmy. The one thing I love about about opening day and hunting with these two guys if you are sitting there all warm and quiet and you hear one of the other rifles bark in the hardwoods we hunt.......you know a phone call and dead deer are to follow. And with the weather predicted I pray a few deer hit the floor pretty quick! Sent from my XT1254 using Tapatalk
  10. We are over in 9h and 9g......my crew will any keep our doe heads for ya. Love the carvings! Sent from my XT1254 using Tapatalk
  11. I may lug this in Sat morning.....need to figure out a way to squeak out a few extra hours in the rain. Sent from my XT1254 using Tapatalk
  12. What type of chair blind Grampy?? I have the one that pops over my head when seated and have used from time to time in bad weather situations. Do you use a shooting stick or shoot free-handed while seated?? Sent from my XT1254 using Tapatalk
  13. Used one early November and it added a few hours to my hunt and I absolutely loved it....easy to put up and came with multi mounting brackets. That brand was made by hunter specialities......just picked up a field and stream brand for my dad.....but haven't opened it yet. The package says this ones mounting bracket screws into the tree. We shall see! Sent from my XT1254 using Tapatalk
  14. Not to high-jack the tread but we recently hung a ladder stand on an inside corner of our cut soy bean field as well....sat there last week for a few hours early morning and nothing was moving. Neighbor was trying to convince us to hang a stand else where since his buddy had one 50 yards from us facing our field...so this new stand will serve double duty. Watch so the neighbors don't shoot into our field, and have a spot to reach out with the muzzleloader in the late season. Sent from my XT1254 using Tapatalk
  15. She was. Sent from my XT1254 using Tapatalk
  16. Banger of a buck! Sent from my XT1254 using Tapatalk
  17. Had a blaze orange camo done a few years back from a guy just starting out. Turned out pretty nice, did the orange since it was shot during gun season. Sent from my XT1254 using Tapatalk
  18. That deer has some age and mass going on! Great to see them on their feet mid-day! There is that magic 10-2 time frame! Sent from my XT1254 using Tapatalk
  19. That's what's great about hunting gear....something out there for everyone. Sent from my XT1254 using Tapatalk
  20. Jeeeese .39.....that would be like looking at a bowling ball thru a peep....... .29 is huge and covers a ton if the intended target/animal. Sent from my XT1254 using Tapatalk
  21. Leaves are down in my area of 9h finally, light dusting makes it out to be a great morning. Sent from my XT1254 using Tapatalk
  22. I was headed to Geneseo this morning to referee the 1st round of the NCAA women's soccer tournament and couldn't help but think what a great morning for a hunt. It was cold as hell, but with the light dusting of snow it seemed like a good morning. Sent from my XT1254 using Tapatalk
  23. You may have mentioned....but what type of xbow setup? Sent from my XT1254 using Tapatalk
  24. As do I....sometimes I end up doing the one leg hop as to not touch down on the wet or frost covered grass. Sent from my XT1254 using Tapatalk
  25. I have used them a few times.....got a buddy who is real tight with the owner....just be careful alot if these sents set off an alarm in some deer. Better off using a bleat can or grunt tube in my opinion. Sent from my XT1254 using Tapatalk
