Got you... That makes sense. was just trying to figure out the goal of the post... To discuss.. Working perfectly.. LOL Yeah, I'm not a fan of it ... I know people that have done it.. I personally would not do it... But again.. where it is legal, I don't oppose others from doing it.. To each their own I feel..
-
Do you think by complaining about it, somehow, people will stop doing it or think differently about it??? Trust me.. I would not do a HF hunt for deer ever... Not my style... But also not my style is wearing a mens Romper, doesn't mean I will oppose others from wearing one if they so chose.... I'm just trying to determine if you are looking to change something or, just standing on your soap box venting about something you don't like...
-
Again.. if it is legal... doesn't hurt anyone... doesn't effect you negatively... Why bitch about it??? Hunt how you want to hunt... shoot what you want to shoot legally... and let others do the same...

I honestly despise stealing.... Drives into a rage like you can't believe... I've seen so many trail cameras, tree stands etc in the woods and the idea of taking them NEVER crosses my mind... As I am sure 99.99% of you feel the same.. I honestly hope it is never stolen from you.. Very nice of your son for sure...

Talked to the wife.. We are heading out Saturday to put some cameras out.. LOL... Thanks for the spark to get that fire started early for me this year guys!!!!
-
LOVE IT!!!!!!!! Thanks!!

Was thinking as a precaution... with my yearly physical, ask to be tested for Lyme's...
-
I spray my cameras down every time I check them... They are plastic shelled so they won't really hold scent.. spraying them seems to work for mine...
-
You guys have me chomping at the bit to get my cameras back out... Damn garden is taking up my free time right now but I will be getting them back out as soon as I can!!!! LOL.. Anyone getting any fawn pics???

I googled the components and found this... http://www.practicalprimitive.com/skillofthemonth/ticktubes
-
Permethrin kills ticks... it repels them because it is killing them so they stay away... if the mice use it as nesting material, it will kill the ticks on them... I believe the tick larva "prefer" small birds and mice... so by taking out 1/2 of the animals we could reduce the # supposedly.. Here's the link I found https://www.cdc.gov/ticks/life_cycle_and_hosts.html
-
Thinking it is never too late... Every bit we do knocks the # down that much...
-
Ortho Bug B Gone says it kills ticks... put it in a spreader and broadcast it out in areas you will be working in.. Not really sure if there is anything you can spray though for brushy area's... Try the trick listed above... it might help in time... This is just going to be a tough year..

Saved to tiny ones, like 1/2 dollar sized ones from our parking lot here... Is that normal to have them that small this early??? 1 painted and one snapping turtle..
-
Saw a link where you can make them... Save up dryer lint, spread it out on a table outside.... soak with permethrine (Sawyers), put in a trash bag, remove the air, let sit 24 hours, back on the table to dry... then stuff into old TP tubes... put them out for the mice to find and take the treated lint back for nesting material... it will kill the tick nymphs... Supposedly... but in theory it appears sound...
-
Has anyone tried the trick with using dryer lint sprayed with Sawyers then put in old TP tubes out in the yard to help kill the tick nymphs???

I honestly spit water out of my mouth and had to go back and read the original post!!!! Talk about a derailment!!! Yes, great advice from Wooly for sure... Never knew my father told me how to do it wrong so long ago.. But will live and learn... Just hope I never hurt one I picked up like that...
-
I don't require fans Steve.. if you are a fan of Wooly's.. more power to him... I am sure he is a great guy... Just wasn't pleased with the wording I obviously took the wrong way and not the way he meant it.. I would never rate a hunter based on social media though... But if you want to... You go right ahead... I am sure you are as talented a hunter as the rest of us are.. But if you are still "holding back", you feel free to let go, I can handle myself not only on a key board but in person as well.. BUT.. As stated above, if I am over reacting to what was said, I apologize... And that would go to you as well.
-
If I am over reacting I will apologize to all involved..
-
Steve... I respect a lot of guys on this forum... Wooly as well as you... But seriously.. your post looked more like you were trying to butter him to date him.. Culvercreek, this is the lines I took as "attitude"... " If your just handling them incorrectly to impress somebody with how "brave" you are by holding them by the tail.... you still look like a wuss to those who know better and should probably just avoid handling them in the first place. " Personally... I was told as a child that is how you pick them up... I was not trying to be "brave" and by no means am I a "Wuss"... If he had just said "Hey Grizz, FYI, it's not good for them to be picked up by the tail, hold them this way, see pic, and they will be better off"... See the difference in "respect shown" in those two??? Now, will I pick one up by the tail again??? Hell no.. I had no clue it was bad for them... Do I really think Steve wants to date Wooly, no... but his post made him look like a google eyed fan of Wooly so I tossed a shot at him... My bad... I'm sure we can both go forward from this point on... I just have an issue with someone "assuming" things about me when they have no clue. I am a huge conservationist, passed NWTF state chapter president, done more to save hunting in my state than 90% of the hunters here. probably 98%... The one thing I stress is respect for the animal and other hunters... I'll leave it at that... back to turtles..
-
Jesus dude... Wipe your chin, Wooly's done...
-
It was you that took the tone first... I now know not to pick them up by the tail, info from you.... I won't do it again... I was told that is how you do it... So now I've learned the proper way.. but once again you take a "Mightier than though" attitude that gets you ZERO respect from me. When you learn to properly instruct people in the right way to do things, then and only then will you receive the respect back.. But every turtle from this point on will either be left alone or picked up by the belly... So I guess there's the win from this.
-
Wooly.... it's a friggin turtle... Settle down Francis...
-
Had this one come in to a decoy set up for Turkeys a few springs back.... Oddest thing... Hens came in after and followed it for a bit...

Very cool!!!!
