Did any trick or tool help you have a better season??? I built an ozone closet this past year, wife and I had the BEST year for seeing deer and I shot some good ones.... With as fickle as the wind is, I truly believe that closet made my year what it was... Learned not to put anything with elastic in there though... Wow ozone eats that up quick... Had a pair of silvermax pants that I can't use because they won't stay up!! LOL.. .but other that that negative on the closet, I will never not use it on my clothing (without elastic)... I'm even taking it on hunting trips... built to take down and set up easily... So, anything you guys used have a positive result???

I know a lot of good gun hunters for sure.. but holy hell, I see some of the least sportsmen like activity and every year I think it can't get worse and it does.... Just sad....

Extending silly season is useless.... won't increase anything but pressure on the deer herd.... Sorry, I am no fan of the guys I see out there hunting from trucks, taking shots they have no business trying, etc... If anything, shorten it...

Thanks guys!!!!! -
I am a huge fan of quarter bores, ESPECIALLY the 25-06.... I just love that round... so there's my vote...

My other favorite line is "Blood trail looks like the Charles Manson Christmas card"

Have to find out if you had any fat added to your burger/sausage.... how much was added, but 40-50% is a good starting point..
-
Hit her high lung right side, in the pic you can see it up from the end of the scope.... Exit wasn't bad at all... I held behind the shoulder to avoid meat damage... They just run farther but she was dead on her feet... 250 grain shock wave... on top of 80 grains of Black Horn 209..

Filled another tag with a good doe, roughly 115-120lbs, shot her at 25 yds, shot her Monday, opening day of BP season... It was a blood trail Stevie Wonder could have followed.. LOL Took my old T/C Omega out for a change, 250 grain T/C Shockwave over 80 grains of Black Horn 209... Freezer is now full, time to relax and start planning for turkey season... LOL

Filled a tag with a nice doe on Monday..... finished the season strong... 2 with the bow, 1 with the BP...

If you saw a lot of deer early season but not as many now it just means they are moving more at night or in areas where hunting pressure is low... Fill your tag with a fat doe when you can, the deer sightings will come back when the pressure drops...

The more bucks you kill in an area with a high doe to buck ratio the more damage you are doing to the herd... In my example with a 9;1 ratio only half of the total # of does would get bred in a year, remember there are two breeding cycles in a year, (Nov. and December), so if you continue to shoot bucks over does in these skewed ratio area's you are only hurting the total deer herd #'s... if you choose to shoot a deer in those area's, shooting a doe over a buck is actually helping the deer #'s increase.. I'm talking long term, not 1 year...

Trust me... My state is destroying the deer herd by handing out buck tags like candy, and you have to apply for a doe permit... They are born 1 to 1, bucks have a higher natural mortality rate over does (The rut takes a big toll on their bodies) and yet we don't kill them 1 to 1... I have spots I hunted 15 - 20 years ago I used to see deer all the time, I put my cameras out for 2 weeks and got 1 pic of a doe and 1 bear pic... You want to lower #'s of deer, shoot bucks only... You end up with fewer does being bred and very few fawns to counter the deer kill...

I'll tag the article as well... QDMA says it is even less... " Dr. Randy DeYoung’s article in Quality Whitetails explained this concept and documented through research that breeding is done by bucks of all age classes, irrespective of the herd’s age structure. Yearlings and 2½-year-olds even get in on the action on the King Ranch in Texas, where more than 50 percent of the bucks are 3½ years of age or older. Randy’s research also showed bucks that successfully breed do not sire many fawns. The most prolific buck in their studies only sired six fawns in a single year, and on one study site successful bucks averaged less than three fawns per year over an 11-year period. Anna Bess Sorin found similar results in a Michigan deer herd where 17 bucks sired 67 fawns for an average of 3.9 fawns per buck. Individual bucks sired anywhere from one to nine fawns in her study. - See more at: https://www.qdma.com/will-dominant-bucks-dominate-breeding/#sthash.p1nycRkq.dpuf " https://www.qdma.com/will-dominant-bucks-dominate-breeding/

But if it were less than half, it would not generate the $ to keep most of them working... so I'm not sure how negatively they view the deer herd or wishing it were lower... Bucks can really only breed 6-7 does a year at most... so if you have a higher doe to buck ratio than 7-1, those other does aren't increasing the herd size where another buck left to live another year will breed another 6-7 does... not sure your situation in your zone, but I know in mine, we are way over that ratio and we aren't given any DMP tags, so I shoot more does than bucks as often as I can..

Explains why I only hunt opening morning during rifle.. LOL
-
Yeah, they are just not designed for that range... 200 is a poke for them... and requires a lot from the gun and shooter... Before I went to Africa I shot weekly.... got to where I was shooting pieces of skeet at 200 with a 30-06 and 338 Win Mag... so when I had to make a shot at 300 I knew I could do it... and did it on 2 animals.. both 1 shot kills...
-
there in lies the problem... hunters with brains never have "accidents" like this.... just like driving, there are idiots out there...
-
split a cow every year with two others..... We pay a total of $3.11 per pound hanging weight... it is a steal though... born and raised right in my home town.... no growth hormones... nothing..... just left to grow... best beef EVER...
-
How high would you have to aim to hit at 300 with a shotgun!?!?!?!!? LOL 12 feet??? LOL
-
Why unfortunately?????
-
Not sure.. but I know that rifles travel a lot further so it would reduce the possibility of those types of accidents.. And I didn't say all areas, I said expand the shotgun areas to fit the terrain, people density etc... I think it is funny, guys think because they have a rifle they can shoot as long as they can see a deer... I've talked to guys that have taken 300 yd plus shots at deer... They've never shot over 100 yards in their lives, or even worked with their rifles to be proficient with it... but they take it because the rifle can do it.. Hence why I don't hunt but 1 morning during rifle season..

Sawyers spray.... spray the outer camo you wear till damp, put in a trash bag for 24 hours with as much air as you can get out of it, remove from bag, let air dry.... Will last 6 weeks even with washing... you will think ticks are extinct...
