  1. This count... Trying to lay eggs next to the driveway of my work... Tractor trailer trucks would have squashed her.. She was NOT pleased with me... Actually put her head under the shell and tried biting my feet as well as snapping side to side...
  2. Hunted the following days... Youth hunt 4/23 Worked 3 jakes, passed, worked 3 LB's, youth could get the shot May 1st, killed a 2 year old May 4th, worked a LB but no shot May 6th, killed a 3 year old, called in 3 LB's May 13th, worked 3 LB's, thinking 2 year olds, no shot. May 27th, worked 4 LB's to 45 yards, wife didn't feel confident in the shot.. Passed 3 2 year olds, 1 3 year old May 28th, took the youth hunter back out, worked 2 LB's, killed a 3 year old. In Massachusetts, guided the youth hunter to a 21lb 3 year old and a rookie to a 20 lb 3 year old., only did those two hunts. So all in, hunted 9 days, worked birds every time, killed 5 LB's 1 2 year old and 4 3 year olds..
  3. I'm sure I'm not alone in this request but please, for the love of God, do not post pics..... LOL
  4. you guys are killing me!!!!! That's it... Cameras are going back out first chance I get to get out there.... Got to get my garden and lawn in shape since it was neglected during turkey season.. LOL
  5. Some people are lucky like that... same with mosquito's, I'm not that lucky... They love me.. LOL
  6. That would work... I never really think of a warm coat for turkey or early deer, if it is that cold I'm thinking ticks would not be very active... But as long as the clothes are sprayed till damp, it still should work... again.. heavy coating on the cuffs, openings etc...
  7. LOL... just the gloves... I figure better not to have the liquid on my hands... but seeing I've done this for 10 years almost with no issues, I would say it's a good method... Up to you... I prefer this over digging ticks out of me..
  8. Not a single tick was found on any of the people that did my recommended regimen!!! Every year more people do as I suggest and every year I get 100% success!!!! I've posted it before but I'll write it again for those that found ticks on them this year... Get Sawyers spray, roughly 1 spray bottle will cover two pairs of pants, 2 shirts, 2 pairs gloves, 2 face mask and 2 hats.. Spray clothing till they are damp, really soaking all cuffs, zippers, neck openings etc... Take the damp clothing, put in a trash bag, remove all the air, tie the bag closed... let sit for 24 hours... remove clothing and let air dry outside... if you do this and use rubber boots that you tuck the pant legs into... I promise you, you will think they are extinct... Had 1 buddy try it but then tells me, he did jackets and all this other clothing with 1 bottle... and got a tick on him.. tried to blame my method... told him he was cheap and deserved the tick... LOL... If you do this, get rubber clothes to use while spraying the clothing or touching it while wet... other than that, once dry it should have no ill effects on you... Works for deer season too, no smell and the product will last up to 8 weeks with washing... If you try it, keep me posted on how it works for you... love hearing the "Zero ticks"...
  9. You guys have it going on!!! 20 plus stands on 40 acres... give you a lot of options for wind and morning/afternoon hunting... Congrats!!!!
  10. My problem is the farm I hunt is 2 hours from home.... so it's 4 hours of driving.... I start in July and will start setting stands soon after based on scouting in the spring... then make adjustments based on MRI with the cameras..
  11. Scouting and setting up cameras for deer??? I start in July... usually later in July... But was scouting tree stand set ups during turkey season for this coming fall... found a new spot I know we will kill deer out of this past turkey season... just 50 yds from a set up I already had... but deer on this spot can't be seen/shot from my spot so I'll be moving it..
  12. Took the youth hunter I started my season with (Reminder, he shot a 21.1lb 3 year old in Ma during the youth hunt) and brought him to NY for my last day I could go out... worked birds from fly down to bang.. LOL... Great morning... located this Tom later in the am, about 6;40am, all alone... took advantage of the heavy foliage and cover and made it happen... Great hunt and a perfect ending to a great season... This was long beard #5 that I called into the gun, 1 2 year old and 4 3 year old's... This one weighed in at an even 21 lbs, 9.25" beard with 1" spurs... The pic with the calls are the only calls I used this year, a Primos Jackpot slate call and a Primos Elk call... Yes, elk... It is the only call I can use without gagging... LOL
  13. Finished strong myself this past weekend.... I'll post pics on another post....
  14. Very cool!!! Thx for sharing...
  15. if you get any symptoms at all go directly to the doc's to get a blood test... If you don't get any symptoms it is worth asking the doctor to test you any ways yearly... Lymes is a punishing disease...
  16. I'll be taking two people out this coming weekend.... fingers crossed they are still gobbling..
  17. I'll be taking the wife out to try and have her fill one of her tags on Saturday.... Those LB's luck can't hold out forever... LOL
  18. Trust me.. I used the carbon stuff in the past.... but logic dictates carbon doesn't release scent molecules till it reaches a temp above what fabric can take, it's not worth spending the $$$ on it IMHO.. Ozone can be replenished into the clothing... Along with smart scent elimination and hunting with the dominant wind like you described is my approach and as I wrote, best season ever... so I'll continue with that...
  19. But with carbon, it can only hold so much before the suit is rendered useless... That's why ScentLok had to pay all that money out.. Factor in how much scent has already been absorbed before you even get to put it on the first time.. to me, not worth the $$$...
  20. I honestly believe 110% in this aspect.... Ozonics, out in the woods, not so much... Haven't tried it yet... I'm sure it does work to some degree, thinking it would work better in a ground blind though...
  21. It appears to be simple.... The ones against it are the same ones that hate the idea of hunter #'s going up in their area, and would love to have fewer people hunting if it means more game for them no matter if in the long run, hunting fades away... (Short sighted/selfish).... The ones that are for youth hunts want hunting to last and grow in #'s... That want others to experience the joys of hunting... No matter what you argue that you aren't that selfish or short sighted... it is VERY apparent to everyone else you are.. The truth is that children's free time is far less available than when middle aged adults had at the same age along with less land to hunt makes a youth hunt the only way for some to get involved... but you keep thinking like an island, so tired of ignorant people trying to justify selfishness...
  22. Yeah.. you do NOT want to put your underwear or silvermax base layers in there... LOL
  23. I built an ozone closet... commercial ozone generator... Had my best season ever last year.... Check my old posts... all the info is there...
