if crossbows become legal, I will be first in line to buy a new one, I am all for it!

hard to beat a Remington 1187 with rifled barrel. Mine has killed 20+ deer in about 15 seasons. DEADLY! with Lightfield Hybred Sabots. I call it "point and click" hunting with my 1187, I cannot remember the last time I missed a deer with it!

Nice bucks, congratulations. Here is a trail cam pic a 6 pt on my property in Canadice. Looks similar to one you shot. Your buddy's 10 pt looks very similar to some trail cam pics I have also, but I think there are a lot of bucks in the area with same genetic traits.

Biz is right. why are you in the trailer when it is time to be in the woods? Sunrise-to-sunset hunting brings success.
-
Shot this spikehorn, which I mistook for a doe on opening day morning at 8AM. I also filled both of my DMP on Sunday afternoon. All on my property in 8N.
-
I heard plenty of shots in 8N Saturday and Sunday. I filled all 3 of my tags over the weekend in about 4 hours of hunting, and was thinking the number of shots was higher than in recent years. Maybe where you are hunting, the hunters weren't seeing many deer? My friend has a camp in Alleghany county, and he said he sees a lot less deer now than 10 years ago. Maybe where you are hunting, there aren't as many hunters as there used to be?

Why you should be an NRA member
JPP replied to Mr VJP's topic in Gun and Hunting Laws and Politics Discussions
NY state has so many stupid gun laws because too many gun owners are complacent and sit on the sidelines. Gun owners in NY number in the millions, yet NY state gun right organization like SCOPE (Shooter's Committee on Politica Eduction) http://scopeny.org/ has only 3,000 members state wide. If gun owners care, they join organizations like SCOPE and NRA that fight for our rights and ACTIVELY LOBBY FOR THEIR GUN RIGHTS. Otherwise, they whine and complain about gun rights organizations and complain about the gun laws passed by politicians who don't hear enough opposition from gun owners. 2012 will be a tough political year for NY gun owners. We need everyone on board in 2012. Join and PARTICIPATE. March 20th, is Sportsman's Awareness day. We have been doing this for the past 2 years and the politicians see us and they know we are out here. Imagine the statement we could make if several hundred thousand gun owners showed up in Albany that day???? http://scopeny.org/albany/index.html -
Me (3) in 8N (Canadice): 1 buck with shotgun 1 doe with shotgun 1 doe with bow My brother (4) in 7M (Solon): 1 buck with rifle 1 doe with rifle 1 buck with bow 1 doe with bow

I have 3 deer: 1 buck (gun), 2 does (1 bow, 1 gun) in 8N My brother got 4 deer: 2 bucks(1 gun, 1 bow), 2 does (1 gun, 1 bow) in 7M about normal results, going back about 20 years or so

Lightfield Hybred Sabot is still the king in my book. Most deer drop right away, or they only run about 40 yds before they expire. I have shot 17 deer with them, only 1 was not recovered. Only 1 missed shot with them since 1998.

1 buck (gun), 2 does (1 bow, 1 gun) for me in 8N 2 bucks(1 gun, 1 bow), 2 does (1 gun, 1 bow) for my brother in 7M

since the post is named "from the stand...", here is the view from one of my treestands yesterday. At 1:18PM, you gotta be in the woods.
-
I have the same exact situation. I try to fill as many tags as I can during early bow season, then I just hope for luck during late gun season. It paid off today, I shot a buck at 1:18PM, as he was cruising through an area where I haven't seen a deer since Nov 1. I guess make the best of the times the deer are abundant, then stay on stand as long as possible in areas as some guys have described to you in earlier posts. Also, use other people's movements to help you. Almost all of my gun kills after opening day have occurred between 1 and 3 PM. I am sure majority of deer movement was because guys were going home, or coming back on stand after lunch. I sit on stand all day and fill tags.

don't sweat it put posted signs all along the property line so he clearly sees them.....put several of them then, before the season starts put a lot of human scent around that area of the fence line the prpoerty isn't even yours, so don't get so aggravated over this

doe for me, no pics killed Nov 5
