I have a couple of pics of this buck now. 4 other bucks caught on film on the same trail in July.

Have you shot the buck you got a trailcam pic of?

I bought this barrel in about 2001. Fired 5 rounds out of it, cleaned it and it has been in my safe as a backup for deer hunting ever since. Barrel has never been in the field, in perfect "like new" condition. Matte finish fully rifled rifle sights 12 ga 20", 3 inch chamber. Barrel used in an 870 Express 3" chamber gun Asking $200 TYD for the barrel

New in 1983, used on my 1100 for 7 deer seasons. The set has been sitting in my closet since 1991, never been outside again. One side of butt stock in perfect condition, other side has one ding and minor surface scratch on it. End of butt stock has some plastic left over after I removed the recoil pad, I left it on for fear of damaging the stock trying to scrape it off. Fore grip is perfect. Asking $100 TYD

Seeing large herds in Wayne County. 50-70 per night in corn fields around town. I have 8 in my yard almost daily. One got hit by a car and State Police had to shoot it on my front yard next to my mail box the other day. The person who hit the deer did take it.

we leave them out all year, some have been up 10 years or more. Just check them and replace the straps as needed.
-
Over the years we have called them 4 times to help locate deer. Only 1 deer was recovered.

Perfect rifle for NY: Remington M7 in 7mm-08 shooting Federal Nosler Partitions Perfect rifle for hunting land with long range shots, like out west: Remington M700 7mm Mag shooting 140 grain Federal Noslter Ballistic Tips both rifles topped with Leupold scopes That being said, if you are hunting thick woods with less than 100 yards of view, hard to beat a Remington 1187 with rifled barrel and scope shooting Lightfield Hybred Sabots. Deadly.

yeah....lets make more laws. Just what we need, government doesn't control us enough, now we want them to regulate our hunting techniques too.

can you imagine not following up a shot on this deer.

phade and doewhacker both have great observations cited here. Many reasons why something like this could happen. But then again, could have been a greenhorn who shot the deer and figured if it didn't fall over, he missed. Could be too the same greenhorn heard other shooting and figured "aw, man...someone else got the deer." That is a beauty. Wow, what a buck!!! -

NO... lol you will leave the PSE side and come to us... Elite Archery headquarters are in Henrietta, but the bows are manufactured in Michigan and Washington state. I own an Elite GTO, but the Mathews Z7 series (Z7, Z7extreme, Z7Magnum, EZ7) will be hard to beat. The M6 and M7 look awesome too. IMO, Mathews has quite a range of nice bows for 2010. I think I will be shooting a Mathews bow in 2011 bow season.

my brother and I hunted there the first day they opened it for gun deer hunting (seems like forever ago). We were constantly harrassed by the wardens working at the swamp. In the morning we had to check in, and our licenses were checked. When eating lunch, they checked our licenses and checked if our guns were unloaded. We were hauled in for interrogation/scolding/threat of ticket when we walked out to our truck after official sundown. Never again, not worth the hassle. The feds can keep their deer.

I passed on small bucks for 3 straight bow seasons, with nothing to show for as no bigger bucks passed by later on in bow season. This year, I decided I would shoot first buck that came in bow range this season. I shot a 1.5 yr old 7 pt on Oct 23. The rest of bow season I had 8 different bucks come by within 15 yards, including two 2.5 yr old 8 pts. Oh well.... Trail camera picked up three nice 3.5 yr old bucks on my pond trail, so I decided I would hold out for one of them. Opening day I passed on a 6 pt buck at 20 yards after shooting a doe, and haven't seen a single deer the past 7 days of hunting. Go figure.... All season, I have had only 1 antlerless deer within range, and shot that doe opening day. One single doe within range all season, thats it. 16 days of bowhunting, 8 days of gun hunting so far in 8N Ontario county.

Western NY hunting is really getting bad in 8N. It is feast or famine, one day I see a few deer, then can go 8 days without seeing one.

I think people have become obsessed with trophy bucks. Lets face it, an industry has grown from this. Scents, soaps, clothes, calls, videos, magazines, books, web sites, TV shows, seminars, weapons, etc. Not every hunter has the same skill set. Not every hunter hunts prime land where you can see big bucks every season. Not every hunter has the time or money to put in to growing food plots, or has the time to be "selective" during season. Hunting is supposed to be fun and an enjoyable experience. Every hunter has the right to shoot whatever legal deer comes by their stand, and nobody has the right to criticize or belittle that hunter for doing so.

Shot this little buck with the bow on Oct 23rd. Shot a doe opening day of gun season, and let a nice little 6 pt walk by at 20 yards. I wish I knew what happened to all the really nice bucks that were out of bow range during archery season.... :-X -
I have seen this many times, where someone swaps the sabots with slugs in the package. Good heads up, always check before you buy.

here are 3 at my camp, only saw one of them during bow season hopefully one of them shows up during gun season

Remington 1187 Rifled barrel with cantilever scope mount Simmons 3x9 Diamond reticle scope Lightfield Hybred Sabots Very accurate at 100yds, never shot further than that on the range Many 3 shot groups, all 3 shots were touching each other in the X ring...no lie
