Lefty, what you will never be able to comprehend is, I look for solutions. I understand the situation far better than you do in my opinion. You want to wallow in self pity. The longer these lock downs go on, the worse the future of the economy is going to be. NJ's governor already said he wants to add another gas tax increase to a gallon of gas. He just did that 6 months ago. The states are forcing the lock downs, which costs them millions in all sorts of taxes, and will be coming for their money as soon as the lock downs end. That will make the recovery even harder. Gotta love the government.

BTW Lefty, you do realize the entire country doesn't have to re-open all at once right? Places like Detroit can stay closed. Nobody is saying open the country without regard for universal precautions.

What's your re-opening strategy Lefty? Or is the unemployment check more than you make working?

Risk vs reward. Exactly what I'm talking about. Do you know whenever the speed limit is increased, traffic engineers calculate what the expected rise in fatalities will be? They make a call to go or not go based on "acceptable" levels of mortality from the increase. Does that make them cold killers and apathetic monsters? Do you think these mortality rates aren't looked at all the time? If most Americans have already had the virus and didn't know it, have antibodies showing they have had it, get it and don't react to it, or never get it, the real rate may be far lower than 2%. That rate is figured on how many have tested positve vs how many supposedly died from it. The numbers are far from certain. Based on the fact we know there will be some deaths, what is your proposed re-opening strategy for the country, or are you saying there should not be one?

Only 2% of the infected may die from the virus. Not everyone of the citizens in the US will get the virus. So we will not see anything near 2 million deaths. Currently the virus is said to have a 98% survival rate, and that is probably much higher if many more people have the antibodies, indicating they had it and lived. Perhaps some people are more susceptible, but is that a reason to destroy the entire US economy? We raise the speed limit and accept 10% more deaths for ever 10 mph increase over 55 mph.

So if my math is correct, about 100 extra indigent people are dying in NYC every week, or 400 more per month. These would be people who really cannot socially isolate, probably haven't been well informed, are most likely unhealthy and don't seek out medical treatment. And that's assuming this is an average over a month, not just a backlog of bodies finally being buried.
