  1. Do beaver become trap shy. I caught 4 nothing the last few days. I pulled the trap today, but I’m wondering if there maybe more. The creek is also starting to freeze up. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  2. Another day with an empty trap. With the rain all day yesterday the water was high. I’m going to leave it set for a few more days. I was online looking for a solution to my fleshing beam and think I found what I need for better stability. Going out to rig it up. I pressure cooked the legs from one then fried the meat in butter pretty good. I definitely going to try and make sandwiches out of them this way. My new favorite sauce Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  3. Isn't that gun tapped ? My m3000 came tapped and I picked up a rail for it.I haven't put a scope on it yet,but might in the future.
  4. I picked up two snap caps for the stoeger o/u 12ga. I have. I read not to leave the springs cocked on that gun. My other shotguns go in the safe cocked. There’s no reason to leave the hammer back on a lever gun. My bolts go in uncocked. None go in loaded the all for hunting. My home defense guns are loaded, cocked and ready. 5. The trap was untouched this morning hopefully that’s that. I tried fleshing one of the medium pelts today. I knew it wasn’t going to come out perfect and didn’t won’t to mess up the first one I got. It went pretty good no cuts through the skin, had some trouble around the rear and up by the face. One of the back legs came out a little funky. Those guys on YouTube make it look easy. Hopefully with some practice I’ll improve. Definitely getting a wider fleshing beam. The yotes found the carcass pile last night it looked like a murder scene back there. If I was better prepared I’d set something up around there and try for a few. Could I skin and freeze the pelts until I get a better fleshing beam? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  6. I tried dragging it through the snow. Probably should’ve rinsed it in the creek. The others had minimal blood compared to this one. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  7. To me it was like beef. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  8. The puss wasn’t the problem it was in the bone. The problem was by the time I got the skin off it and me where covered with blood. I butchered 100’s of deer and never seen that much blood come out of an animal. I actually took my gloves off to see if I cut myself. Is there a way to remove the blood from the fur? Did you ever skin one with veins on the skin? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  9. I cooked up the back straps from the first three they where awesome!!! Tomorrow I’m going to try a few of the legs in the slow cooker. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  10. I’m 4 for 4 this morning’s catch was 48lbs. There was a bunch of Veins running along the skin which turned into a bloody mess.He also had something wrong with his foot when I removed it green puss came out. As much as I hated to do it I threw everything but the skull into the carcass pile. This spring I’m building a skinning shed. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Pulled another !8 pounder out this morning. When i saw the beech trees down by my pond I thought I found the mother of all rublines.lol
  12. I was pretty surprised how clean these animals are. I'm going to flesh them tomorrow.how do the caters look? i'm going to use them not sell them. One thing I'll say is the oil smells really nice no wonder the use it for perfumes.
  13. I got a bigger one today and did a much better job at skinning and butchering it. I did screw up the on the nose and whiskers. Just a few questions the guy on YouTube washes his fur before fleshing it. I don’t have that option. Would a bucket of water or the creek be good enough? I tried to get the casters out but I’m not sure if I did it right and I couldn’t find the oil gland some of them where taking out. Sorry if that’s to much for some of you, but I want to learn how to do this right. How many of beaver do these dens hold on average? I have to admit I wasn’t really ready for this, but I’m really enjoying it. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  14. I wasn't so successful skinning and butchering as I was catching him. It turned into a mess real fast I'm not sure if it was because it was small[11lbs.] or they just have thin flesh.I did ok with the skin but the carcass looked like swiss cheese, also it has a different anatomy of any animal i've ever butchered.I wasn't expecting it to come out perfect, but expected the fur not the meat to have more damage.I'm going to hit youtube tonight and go over the skinning videos again.

  16. I’m keeping this one it small enough for my hunting room and I’ll keep the skull too. I already know there good eating so into the pot he goes. Thanks again for the tips Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  17. I going to try on the fly,but as it gets closer I’ll break out the m-80’s Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  18. Got one!!!! It’s a small, should I let that spot rest or reset? I thought it knocked the trap over until I pulled it out of the water surprised is an understatement. Thanks to you and everyone else that gave me advice [emoji106] Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  19. Man one month shy!!! I’m in is it flies only? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  20. I got the traps Monday and made my way do to the creek that goes into the pond. It’s a lot wider the I remember but I found this tree laying across the creek that they’ve been feeding on. I’m not sure how well I did but I blocked off the area and left them no other way to get through except where the trap is. Hopefully it works out. I have to say that was as fun as it gets. Waders and longer gloves going on my list of things to bring. My boots where filled with ice water by the time I got done. Here’s a few pics of the set up: Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

  24. Finished unpacking and found a few things I won’t be using anymore so there up for grabs. I’ve done this on here before with no issues so here’s how it works. First one to answer in this post gets the item. These are things I tried passing along to friends and no one wanted next stop is the trash, so grab them if needed. Map create 7 it does all 50 states. You can set up a print out a route. Minolta 8x21 Binoculars old but still work The I wish I could still use. Keeps track on a laptop(cd rom needed) printable charts. Works with prochrono chronograph Lowrance ifinder hunt c works great just needs batteries and an SD card. Has three modes hunt, easy and advanced. If you can figure out the advance mode your a rocket scientist lol These straps came with a sling pack. There for holding ducks. Again first “I’ll take it” on this post gets it. Followed by a pm with an address to ship it too. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  25. Congrats everyone and good luck to the guys still hunting. I got the green light to hunt with the bow/crossbow from the eye doctor yesterday. He said to hold off until the new year with the guns. On the way back up from the island I saw a beauty of an eight pointer chasing two does along I-90 he had the whitest antlers I’ve ever seen on a deer. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
