  1. I haven't been out hunting in a month. Anything that is fair game, will be fair game.
  2. Doctors are professionals but they're not God. They still make mistakes and our technology still has limits. Michael Jordan is the greatest player in the history of basketball but even he misses a shot here and there. But when your life in on the line, who would you pick to take the shot?
  3. Even if ammo ignite, since it's not contained in a rifle chamber, it's not lethal. You safe/metal cabinets should be able to contain it.
  4. Marlin XT-22 also good. For shotgun, Mossberg 500 or Remington 870 are good choices as well.
  5. Jose? There's no Jose in this conversation. There's a Joseph though. Haha! Just kidding. I live in NYC. Just asking because knowing where you are can help because people local to your area can give hunting tips specific to your location. Hunting near NYC is slightly different than say the Adirondacks.
  6. We're going to see drug dealers in the dark alleys selliing ammo instead. "Psss...yo, kid. I gotz 223's here."
  7. Don't know how it's going to work upstate but in NYC we need to show the receipt or invoice from the gunsmith proving it was actually modified. We can not just say "I did it myself, trust me, it was modified."
  8. http://www.assaultweapon.info/ It has nothing to do with it. it has everything to do with the fact that the people who are putting these laws in place do not in fact know anything about guns or how they work.
  9. Under this new law, upstate, handgun and "assualt rifles" will be checked. Other long guns will still be able to roam freely.
  10. It's enforced through the registration process. As a NYC resident, all your guns are registered I pressume. If you want to sell them to someone, you would want to unregistered them from you. To do so, you need a FFL to fill out the form and assist in the sale. The FFL then does the background check. That's how they plan on eliminating private sales.
  11. Welcome. As Lawdwaz said, you need to tell us a little more about yourself.
  12. Welcome aboard. Where are you located?
  13. They've made the rest of NY state stricter but still not as strict as NYC so these new laws does not effect NYC residents at all. We've been getting screwed even before this new law.
  14. Have blacksmith modify current mag? Sort of like the shotgun plug you have to get for waterfowl hunting?
  15. NYC has a ridiculous 5 round limit but they allowed me to purchase and register a Ruger 10/22. All I had to do was submit a receipt showing them that I purchased a 5 round magazine from Brownell's. Of course nothing can stop me from running up to Westchester and buying a 10 round clip and paying with it with cash so there's no record of it.
  16. Before, the dealer would have to call it in. Some stores are now computerized. Last time I was there for a firearm, my local gunshop had a computer kiosk setup. I sat there and typed in my information and filled out an online form. Sat back and waited 15 minutes. Store got a notification that I've been cleared. This was for a firearm though. I am really hoping this isn't going to be the case if I want to simply buy a 20 round pack of 308's while at the shooting range.
  17. That's awesome. Me being a downstater, I've never seen a porcupine out in the woods before.
  18. I think there's going to be a grace period for everyone to adjust to the new law. I think once the dust settles and everyone has a clear idea of the law, companies will begin maximizing their sales again by capatilizing whatever loopholes there might be. I even think some companies will start manufacturing 7 round clips.
  19. Would rather prefer a place that'll let me use a 22 but I'm down with a shotgun/airgun only zone. I'm in.
  20. Congratulations, Phade. Here's an idea.
  21. I was wasted by the end of the day. I wouldn't know who was or wasn't there.
  22. Honeymoon? I'm more interested in getting out there and doing some hunting.
