Jokes aside, it is legitimate. If you can afford to shoot a deer with a $1000 bow, how "needy" were you?

Since I'm on "vacation" and not laid off, I still have my benefits and cell phone paid for. I can't remember the last time I've actually paid for my cell phone. Do need go in whenever my boss (only IT guy left in there) calls out sick. I got enough savings to last me a good amount of time. While I actually somewhat relieved and looking forward to some time off especially during this crap storm, I do hope this is over very quickly. -

BTW, I order wipes from Amazon. According to UPS tracking, they were left at my front door Weds night. I guess they got stolen. First time it's happened. Sign of the times. -

Well, after de Blasio's executive order, as expected, I'm on "voluntary" unpaid vacation until this blows over. Why couldn't this happen during hunting season? I guess I'll go on a few hikes here and there. Are the gun ranges open? -
So sorry to hear.

Aliens are going to come to Earth to find 300 million dead Americans. They will have a hard time trying to figure out what killed them all but left their butt holes spotlessly clean. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk -

I was off on my no re-infection theory. Apparently there are several patients who have recovered from coronavirus but found to be positive again. Some speculate that this maybe more due to poor testing. Either false negative which resulted in a premature release or false positives on retest. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk -

Irony is when all the toilet paper is gone but the food is still on the shelf. It's a good. They'll starve long before I run out of toilet paper and when they do, I can trade them an orange for a roll. -

Fingers crossed. Seems like it didn't make it's way down to the respiratory system for her so she should be okay, but yes, those she has been in contact with is a concern. -

1. Sorry I've been swamped at work and haven't checked in for some time so I apologize for the long post. It's several days of response all at once. If you have read my mention before, my wife works at Columbia Presbyterian Hospital. While she is in stroke research and community outreach research, Columbia is knee deep in the middle of the virus outbreak. Patient two (the Jewish lawyer from New Rochelle) was being treated there. He has since been release and allowed to go home. 2. MET is closing too. I think more companies and venues will continue to close. We're not at the peak. Many people will be out of work. The virus isn't bad. This reaction though...it's freakin' BAD! It's freakin' crazy what's going on. 3. My company is hit hard. Massive layoffs. Speculation is that I'll eventually be on it too. Other think I might be forced on a involuntary unpaid leave for a couple of months. Will see. I might actually enjoy the time off if that is the case. Considering how crazy it's going to be for those who are still working there. It's going to be a skeleton crew supporting the company. More people who be bankrupted from the mass hysteria than people actually hospitalized from the actual virus. 4A. The mortality percentages are off. First of all, let's put an asterisk for the person who bought it into a nursing home in Washington that killed 19 in one shot. 4B. The mortality percentages are way off because the number of known cases is only a very small fraction of the amount of people who actually have it. My wife's boss is a renowned research doctor. His son got sick. He called around but no one is available to test his son. This isn't him calling some hotline. This is him going directly up to colleagues asking them to test his son. The health care system is so under prepared for this, they simple do not have the capability to test the number of people coming in. They are turning a lot of them away. Currently they are only testing individuals who have had known direct contact with a known infected person or someone who recently came back from a hot spot. So think of how many people might have had the virus but were never tested. The 1400 number are only the ones they were able to get to and test and came back positive. Ultimately he asked his buddy to spare him one kit and he took it home and did the test himself. He bought it back to the lab and the sample waited in queue. It took two days for the lab to finally get the sample and have it examined. Results were.... 5. ….Positive....but....So apparently there are 5 different known strains of COVID-19. The one his son has is not fatal. From when he took the kit home till he got the results back, this doctor also got sick. The hospital told him to go back to work. His son's strain of the COVID-19 isn't fatal and they're swamped. 6. One good thing is so far is that they have not found a single case of a person being re-infected by the virus. There is a possibility that once infected, your body develops an immunity to it. -
How did this go unnoticed? One of my favorite hiking spots. Thoughts to all the first responders. Hope they were able minimize the damage. https://newyork.cbslocal.com/2020/03/10/breakneck-ridge-brush-fire/

Co-worker just came back from Venice on Saturday, just before the lock down. Said no F's given by the people there. People splashing water on their face and goggling the water without washing their hands with soap in the bathrooms, etc. Being in a hospitality/events industry, Coumo's restrictions of large gatherings is hurting business. I just took a pay cut for the next 3 months as a result. -

And they were all 1B or DH. Less wear and tear on the body at those positions.

I already have apple pay and my credit card is contactless. I rarely carry cash anymore. I have to make a conscious effort to keep some $5's and singles sitting around so that we can tip the delivery person. There was a time we ordered delivery and didn't even have money to tip. I had to steal money from my son's piggy bank. -

In all seriousness though, I was just talking about this with my wife the other day. So my brother works for homeland security at JFK. He came to visit a month and a half ago. Since then, he got sick, both my nieces, both my kids, my dad, and my wife...all got sick. Everyone got better. This was end of January to early February. My wife got it the worst. Her symptoms? Shortness of breath and persistent cough. She said every time she cough, it felt like Mike Tyson punched her in the rib cage. She was eventually diagnosed with pneumonia. Took antibiotics and now she's all good too. Coronavirus was hardly news at the time. Now that we're more aware of it, for all we know, there was a very good chance we got it, recovered from it, and didn't even know it. And...my wife works for Columbia Presbyterian Hospital. She continued to go to work throughout all this because the doctors told her she wasn't contagious. -

Not to down play the seriousness of the virus as my parents fall into the over 50 crowd as pretty much everyone else on this forum. The argument is that if they are deriving the %2 based on 2000 death from 100K cases, the percentage would be lower because it is way more than 100K cases. There could be potentially another 100K cases that are not reported since the symptoms are vague. When people get the flu, they know they have it. for COVID-19, you can have a slight fever and you're not reporting it as a coronavirus case. You may simply think you got out of the wrong side of the bed and go about your day. That's what is making this virus so contagious. So in reality, the math could in reality be 2000 death in 200K cases which would put the percentage at 1% instead of 2%.
