  1. I had a terrible year. I hunt in the 9r region. Wasn't seeing deer during archery or rifle season. Luckily I was able to get some venison but it was a terrible year. We didn't have no where near the shots you hear on opening day. It seemed as if no one was hunting. I think we have decided were planting food plots on some of the old logging roads to try and hold the deer on the lease. We know they are bedding on the side hill but are leaving before sunrise and going to unknown locations.
  2. We have a farmers hay field with cover in it. What would you guys suggest planting then?
  3. I'm doing the same thing next year, but was thinking of using food plot mixes since we have no food plots and no clearings to make some
  4. As the good lord has blessed me again this year with a extra deer for sausage. I process my own meat and will be making Italian, brats, summer, snack sticks. In the past I've bought high temp cheese. Thinking this year I'll just buy store bought shredded cheese. Anyone with experience with it, will it work?
  5. We got ice in cattaraugus county. Accidents all over the fire radio
  6. I just ordered the Walker razor 2 weeks ago for $20. It was a prime special. I love them so far cant wait to use them for shooting
  7. With 2 in the freezer already, I'm taking today off for "The Game" OH...IO
  8. No luck here. It's been a tough year. All I can think is the weather, and plenty of acorns. I'm thinking they have no reason to move. Wish we'd get snow
  9. Giving it a rest today. Very frustrating year. Deer aren't moving and it seems rifle season hasn't opened yet. I've heard 2 shots all weekend
  10. I shot a doe Saturday with them. 150 yard shot first deer I got with the 30-30, destroyed both shoulders couldn't get much meat off them. I was very suprised since I usually use 06 or 308 and not a big problem
  11. Preheat oven to 400 Dice up a onion, saute onions and mushrooms. Mix onions, mushrooms with cream cheese. Slice the meat half way through Apply all purpose rub to the meat. Put in filling, then wrap in bacon. Secure it with tooth picks. Baked til I had a internal temp of 145. Comes out about medium. Took about 1 hour.
  12. Staying in today, I've got 2 deer to grind up this morning. Hopefully make it out for a walk later. Gotta be in to work at 6pm
  13. My luck as finally changed. Big doe took a dirt nap. 175 yards with the 30-30
  14. Nothing yet. Buddy got a 6 point. Doesn't seem like opening day not many shots
