I was in college but didn’t have any classes that day. I slept in a bit, woke up and went to the gym without turning on a TV or listening to the radio. When I walked into the gym every TV had the news on with the video of smoke pouring out of the first tower hit. I decided to hit the treadmill and plug into it with headphones so I could hear what was going on. I did so just in time as the second tower got hit and I was completely confused as to what was going on. I remember thinking for a while that the same tower got hit by another plane. I think I lasted maybe 20 minutes on the treadmill before I gave up to go home and watch the news. I remember coming home to a voicemail on the home answering machine from my sister who lived in Dallas at the time just asking if we where ok and for someone to call her back. Being the stupid college kid I was didn’t call her back and figured my parents would when they got home because why would she want to talk to me. Little did I know she was worried about us even though we are on the other side of the state from NYC. I’ll never forget that voicemail and not calling her back right away she was truly worried about us. I went to work later that day and we huddled around a small TV we pulled into the kitchen from the break room so we could watch. It restaurant was dead the whole night we only had a couple of tables come in. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
