  1. I've never done it to a trophy buck as I've never got one but I've buried the head in the ground in December then dug it up in the fall and it's nice and clean of flesh. Just clean the dirt of and bleach it. Sent from my VS985 4G using Tapatalk
  2. I will be out it's my tradition. Hunt till 11 then joint the family for a nice dinner and evening. Sent from my VS985 4G using Tapatalk
  3. Go for it, you have meat in the freezer already and hunting is about doing something you enjoy anyways.
  4. I would say right up on the property line is fine as long as its not pointing into the neighbors property and you have a good relationship with them.
  5. For me yes that was my dogs first one ever and she hunts pheasants with me so shes not just a dog that stays home all the time. We really don't seem to have many where I live and hunt. I can only remember one other time having one crawl on me while hunting and a friend picked one up while golfing once. With never really experiencing them before a made a quick phone call to the vet once they open just to see what they said and like I said they weren't concerned as it happens all the time.
  6. I found one like that on my dog once. I was petting her when I found a strange bump that wasn't there just the other day. I started seperating hairs to find it and it was a tick that looked like that exact picture! Yuck! Called the vet and they weren't concerned so neither was I. Sent from my VS985 4G using Tapatalk
  7. Great buck! I think in this picture you where trying to match the look on his face and I must say you succeeded!
  8. That story is one of the many reasons why I love hunting. You just never know what your going to see out in the woods.
  9. Congratulations! That's pretty cool. Sent from my VS985 4G using Tapatalk
  10. A lot of my slugs have dents all around them from being loaded and unloaded all the time. It has never seemed to be an issue. Sent from my VS985 4G using Tapatalk
  11. I called it at 11:30am. To much wind and sideways snow. The weather had it continuing for the rest of the day so I came home to get some stuff done and hang out with the family. Sent from my VS985 4G using Tapatalk
  12. Congrats NTP19! you will always remember your first! Sent from my VS985 4G using Tapatalk
  13. I carry way to many and I know it but don't care. My Orange vest I wear holds 20 so that's what I start with. 5 for the gun and 15 extra. I average 1.5 rounds per deer due to sometimes needing a finishing shot. But you never know where the day will take you and I would never forgive myself if I ran out of bullets during a hunt. 16. Back at it this morning in 8g. It's cold, windy, raining, sleeting and snowing depending on what mother nature wants at the moment. The umbrella is up and all the warm clothes are on. I'm going to stick it out until at least lunch and decide from there. Sent from my VS985 4G using Tapatalk
  17. Well I already told you guys how I got my buddy into a real nice stand which he took a doe from then karma paid me back with a doe of my own. Well same buddy same stand I get a good buck cruise past me nose to the ground and offer no shot but it's headed in his direction. I give him a quick heads up text and 15 min later the buck was on the ground! Ends up being a real nice 7 point with a swollen neck in full rut mode. It's not my personal best opening day but as far as memories go this one is up there. Sent from my VS985 4G using Tapatalk
