  1. I personally hate the thought of having a new job every 3-5 years. While I may not absolutely love coming into work every day I am here on time for at least my 40 hours a week and I will do whatever is required to finish jobs and get them out the door even if they are not my jobs. In return I have a lot of leeway on things like right now being on the internet responding to a hunting forum post lol.
  2. I've been where I am at for just over 11 years now. I have a decent wage but know if I go somewhere else I will get more. Right now the pro's outweigh the con's of trying to go somewhere else and besides I am getting tired of my field of work in general so going somewhere else wont help me at all.
  3. Way to much food that's what we will be having from Christmas Eve dinner all the way through dessert on Christmas day! Christmas Eve dinner starts it all off with everyone making an appetizer style dish to eat as we talk, drink and open up gifts. No formal sitting down for this meal. Every year the food changes but the staples are shrimp cocktail, cheese and crackers and Chili. Christmas Morning is a full blown breakfast with eggs, sausage, bacon, waffles, hashbrowns, toast, pancakes and all the coffee and juice you can drink. Christmas dinner is a more traditional with Ham, green beans, mashed potatoes and a whole bunch of other fixings. For dessert there will be about 6 different cakes and pies to choose from. I really love this time of year. Has to be my favorite holiday and it has nothing to do with getting gifts.
  4. It's sad business's no longer have any loyalty to their employees which is starting to trickle down to the employees no longer having any loyalty to their employers. I'm 35 and I know a lot of people my age and younger that move from job to job every 3-5 years as that seems to be the only way the can improve their pay and position. A couple of years ago my mom was laid off on the 23rd of December, talk about a holiday killer!
  5. My condolences to you and your family. Nothing can prepare you for the sudden loss of a love one those always hurt the most. May your memories of your father and the way he went out on his terms help carry you through this hard time.
  6. Best - Venison tenderloin but I would love to do a side by side comparison of Elk and Venison because the Elk I've had was also very good. Worst - Mallard duck. It was so greasy and nasty tasting I have yet to try it again and that was a decade or so ago. I practically quit duck hunting over it.
  7. Cool pics! I've thought of doing this before but never did. Now next year i might have to.
  8. Congrats to everyone that put deer down today! My morning was unsuccessful with another 4 hours in the woods with out seeing a deer. Just got home from a holiday party and it's time to get some sleep. Only a few more hours before it's my last hunt of the year. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  9. Way to go TC! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

  11. I almost lost the battle with my blankets this morning but I'm up and moving. I can only hunt the morning due to family plans. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  12. Hey Rock, next year can you challenge us AT THE BEGINNING OF THE SEASON!!!! Jeeze since you issued the challenge at least one buck and one doe has been taken every day!!!! A guy needs all the help he can get!
  13. Ugg, opening weekend I got a speeding ticket on my way home. Totally my fault just wasn't paying attention at the speed for a minute.
  14. Forget about the guy, that roo took that punch like a champ! I ain't messing with the roo.
  15. Wow what a crazy story!!! Its truly sad that this is how "adults" behave in public especially with kids in tow. And to me it seems just as irresponsible for Dick's to give into their screaming and yelling. That just taught the kids if that's how you behave you will get what you want. Mind you I do understand Dick's probably gave in not because they wanted to but because they just wanted to get those people out of the store.
  16. I have gone through a few knives in my time from ones given to me from my uncle to ones I have purchased. I never really liked any of them until now. I purchased a Gerber fix blade with a gut hook. I bought it 2 years ago and have used it on at least 3 deer so far. Its just as sharp as the day I bought it. All the other knives are now retired and this is the only one I carry for field dressing duties.
  17. I live in the next town over. Never hunted in Darien though.
  18. Do you have that deer taco drag out and working?
  19. Way to go TF!!!! Lots of hours in for that guy.
  20. Thanks for keeping at it even with the disappointment of a couple of unsuccessful tracks.
  21. Hoping for a little magic hour luck. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  22. Sat out all morning and thought I could hear deer move threw the thicket but could never get a visual on them. Now I'm back out for the evening at a different spot just because. It's really nice out so that's a bonus Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  23. Rock man a heartfelt congratulations you stuck with him all year and where rewarded for you determination. Just started hunting and you have already harvested 2 beautiful bucks! I love seeing stuff like this. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
