I would say 85-90% of the time. Ive had a couple of shots where the arrow hangs up at the fletchings on the off side and where the deer took off at impact and snapped the arrow in half. I didnt count those as complete pass throughs, even though the broadhead put holes in both sides of the deer. If you count those as pass throughs, then Im at 100%. I have yet to put just a single hole in a deer

This weekend, when I got back from vacation, I was walking around the yard and noticed that some of our silver maples, ash and my peach trees are turning color. The one apple in our front yard is almost void of leaves. Temps for my area for the next 10 days are in the high 60s and 70s, and night temps in the 50s. Its getting a bit cooler, but not cool enough for pulling the AC units yet. We will probably have a day or two where they might get used still.

My car should be in the 10.8 range with the right conditions seeing as Im running drag radials. Its all about getting off the line without spinning.

Any factory rocket below a 900 is fair game for me. Especially on a roll. Ive taken a couple already....I mean, Ive seen lots of YouTube videos of that happening...

I just use Turtle Wax bug & tar remover, works great, just a pain.

The deer completely cleaned my plot out before the season started last year. Not happening this year lol.

Its pretty simple, you want a controller that runs 1 Joule or more, I used a Gallagher B280, which has 2.8 joules of output (if you touch this fence, its not a fun experience lol). Next, youll need step in posts (spaced every 20 feet or so), electric fence ribbon, a grounding post set, a deep cycle battery and a solar panel for keeping it charged. My whole setup cost @ $500 and I have a whole spool of ribbon left over for fixing breaks, etc.

I checked the plot on Sunday, and it is doing great. I forgot to bring my phone with me to take pics though. The brassicas are already tall enough to where they are covering parts of the bottom electric fence string. Im keeping an eye on the fence and how its working with the vegetation on it, but the controller I bought specifically said that it has plenty of power to be able to handle weeds and vegetation on the strands. I have had 3 sets of pics with deer inside the fence so far, but thats it. When I checked the plot on Sunday, I found a section of the outside strand on the ground. It looked like a deer had gotten tangled up in it and pulled it down, breaking the clips on 2 of the posts. I raised the whole outer strand up about 6 more inches. Hopefully that works fine. The fence is doing a good ob though, all of the plants outside of it have been browsed pretty heavily. I have some cams to get setup and shooting lanes to cut this weekend, so ill snap a few pics when Im back there.

Spraying Cleth in a clover plot
WNYBuckHunter replied to WNYBuckHunter's topic in Land Management, Food Plots and QDM
Well, I didnt have time to get the Kleth sprayed before I went on vacation, and it think its a little late at this point. Im just going to mow the plot one more time before fall and then spray it in the late spring next year. -
Thanks! I love the car, its a blast to drive and scares the crap out of me all the time. I dont think it will ever get old lol. I would love to scoop up a 70 or 71 Challenger project car at some point. Dodge has always been on point with the Challengers.

Yeah, Demons are big money. You can get close to the same performance with a Redeye and a few mods for close to the original MSRP of a Demon.

Just saw this on my FB. Deer had a brain abscess https://www.thelcn.com/lcn01/dec-slain-deer-in-le-roy-had-brain-abscess-20190830

It changes your FOC, so yes, you have to adjust for them.
-
Just like making any other change to your arrows, you have to tune your setup for them.
-
Yes. You could have a stand on a trailer if you wanted, as long as whatever motorized thing that pulls it around isnt attached to it.

Whitetails and he has started with red stag recently

Im not involved with it like that. I would say they do more than 50 hunts a season though, just based on what they have said in the past. Its not a huge ranch though, and 50 hunts a year would be signifacant for their operation.
-
My girlfriends uncle owns a farm and hunting ranch in Ontario county. His place is packed full with hunts every year. I have a good idea of what people put into their operations, and I dont look at them the way I used to. Its not my thing, but I dont begrudge anyone from participating. Just as long as they dont try to pass the deer off as being shot in the wild.
-
I use all kinds except climbers, which are pointless where I hunt, not many limb free straight trees in the right places. Mostly hang ons with ladder sticks though. They are far more versatile than any other type.
-
Thats how I do it basically, but Ive only done the nitrogen thing once. Maybe Ill try that this year, although I went real heavy with the triple 15 when I planted.
-
Gotcha. Whatever works for you, I was just wondering. Maybe next year Ill do a section of a plot the way you do and see how it does. My big concern would be crushing plants that are already growing with the ATV/spreader. If I was row planting, then no big deal there, but I broadcast.

Spraying Cleth in a clover plot
WNYBuckHunter replied to WNYBuckHunter's topic in Land Management, Food Plots and QDM
Ok, Ill have to try getting it done this week before I leave for vacation. Ill toss some plant oil in there. -
This is so strange to me, I have never actually heard of fertilizing after planting unless you end up not putting enough in the ground to begin with and notice stunted growth, etc after it gets going. What is the thought behind adding it later and not working it into the ground initially? Here is what Ive always done, and had great luck with: -Spray plots with Gly/2-4d/plant oil -Wait 2-3 weeks -Mow dead stuff as short as possible -Run tiller 1-2 passes depending on conditions -Spread fertilizer -Run tiller on shallower setting 1 pass -The next day I broadcast the seed -Roll plot
