Yep, if you have a camper with water tanks and a generator, you can camp for less than 3 nights on some state land without a permit. If it will be longer, you just apply for the permit. I go down to some state land in the Southern tier with some guys and we stay in campers on the side of the roads that go through the land, never had any issues, lots of guys do it in fact. Check the regulations for the land you are thinking of before you go though.

Well, my bow season is over, I didnt even get out this weekend, but thats ok. Id say it was my best bow season yet. Had multiple encounters with 2 very big bucks, shot 1 good one, but lost it and killed my first buck with a bow. Had a ton of almosts on a bunch of doe as well. Gonna put the bow away tomorrow and put my archery stuff away. Im thinking of setting up a range in my basement over the winter. I should be able to get 20 yards down there.

You probably didnt get the pleasure of reading most of his nonsense today lol. That guy has issues. Id rather not see anyone get banned, but that guy went wayyyyy over the line.

I ate every archery buck tag I ever had, until this year. I had been holding out for a big one, but ended up deciding to take a 6 this year. I was a little disappointed in myself for not holding out, but part of me is glad to just have that monkey off my back. Ill be going back to eating tag soup if I cant take something outside the ears from here on out though. If it makes you happy, and is a legal deer, take it. If basket 8s and such dont do it for you anymore, hold out.

What arrows are you shooting? Most carbons use the Med and most aluminums use the Large I believe. There are some smaller diameter carbons that need the Small though.

Sweet! He had to be all smiles! -
I got my 870 re-sighted in and ready to go last Wednesday. 2 1/2 inches high at 50, same at 100. Should put 0 at 150 with the SSTs. Not gonna mess with the handgun this year, havent sighted it in yet, will probably just upgrade the bases and scope for next season. All those deer that think coming into the field at 60 yards is funny are gonna get a surprise next week.

I havent tried the cheese yet, the Cheddar flavor was in the mix already. Last year I did the breakfast sausage in big rolls, like you buy at the store, but they were tough sometimes to divy up or prep, so I just went with the casings this year. One tip for you, dont mess with the casings at Dicks or Gander. The ones I got this year are from Wegmans, right in the meat section. They are local (from Syracuse) and cheaper, plus you get longer and more casings in a package.

No problem! Better safe than sorry right?

LOL, same one. Seen him in the woodlot on Corby on the other side of the 4 way stop too, right before Bragg St. I used to live right by there on Ontario St, and we always had some great deer in the back yard. The other one I know of is just down the rd near CR14 in Bloomfield. That ones a doe though.

Great buck! Congrats! Dave, theres a couple of them over in the Lima area, seen them for a few years now, but they arent in an area I have access to.

The last few evenings Ive been mixing up venison, pork and other ingredients for sausage. Its a bit of work, but I like doing it and love the end results. So far I have 3 kinds, Cheddar Brats (seasoning from Eastman Outdoors), Breakfast (another purchased seasoning mix) and something I havent come up with a name for yet. Im not sure how good its gonna be and if I do like it, Ill name it something. This is the second year I have been making my own, and last year it was pretty darn good. I am still stuffing with my grinder, which works but isnt ideal. I think over the off season Im gonna get an actual stuffer. Here are some pics of the mess Im making... These little ones are the breakfast sausages...

That episode was about getting to know what your area holds, and hunting up to those standards, rather than what you see on TV or the internet.
