  1. Actually, there ya go, your own post. Have at it.
  2. I agree that Moutrie's service seems to have gone down hill. Call them back though and complain, or try taking it back to the store you got it from.
  3. What you are saying is pure out bull. Plenty of deer are lost or injured each year by gun hunters, so your insinuations about archery hunters are nothing more than one hunter bashing another based on nothing more than ignorance and misinformation. Guys like yourself are the reason why hunters as a whole are easy targets for anti-hunting organizations. Facts are, in a perfect world, we would all make nothing but perfect shots, no matter what weapon we are using, but in the real world, bad shots happen. If you havent made one, you havent been hunting long enough. If you want to continue to trash talk bow hunters, start your own thread for it. Stop hijacking this one.
  4. Nope, he hit it above the spine. The spine of a deer does not run at the top of its back, especially in that area, above the shoulders.
  5. I am looking at both to try and judge the angle the arrow hit with. In the pic, that deer has its left front leg in its rearward position, not straight up and down, which makes the hit look like its forward. The fletching is showing on the neck area, ahead of the shoulder, but what shows the broadhead hit is the dark patch just below and to the right of the fletching. That arrow is dead on where it needed to be left to right, but is way too high and over the spine. The red dot in this pic shows where it looks like that arrow went.
  6. Thats user error. I do it sometimes too. When I click on the box to do a fast reply, sometimes I click twice and it selects one of the options that pop up in the menu above where you type. I just check it before I hit the post button.
  7. Should just be open all year, but this proposal is better than the way it is now I guess.
  8. Thats why you need a new jacket! See, youre doing just fine with the excuses, you dont need any help.
  9. I used to love my old 2 stroke sleds, loved my 2 stroke sport quads in the day too, but let me tell ya, the 4 strokes have gobs more low end torque and the newer turbo'ed versions are just plain amazing. One of these days Ill get back into them, just too many other things Id rather have right now.
  10. I have a certain way that I hook my gun up to the hoist rope that keeps it pretty much level, with the muzzle slightly down. That product looks pretty nice though.
  11. LMAO, use every excuse you can think of, and when you run out of them, give me a call, I have a bunch more for ya!
  12. Culver, many of the jackets out there, especially the lighter weight bowhunting jackets, have a flap and opening in the back for the strap to come out of. The jacket I have does just that and I put it on over my harness.
  13. It takes a few generations of them breeding in the wild to start reverting back to that wild boar type image we think of when we hear wild pig. This one could have been first or second generation feral hog and still looked like Farmer Joe's prize winning pig. Maybe it is an escaped farm pig, but who cares, at least its not roaming around breeding in the wild.
  14. Nothing really new to say about this story. I feel bad for the guy's family and friends who now have to live with this the rest of their lives because of his stupidity. You guys that think you canto fall, no matter what kind of stand it is, are fooling yourselves, and saying a deer would notice a black strap is about the weakest excuse for irresponsibility Ive ever heard. I have a tad over $200 into my fall protection/decent system, which is nothing when it comes to keeping me from being dead or a quadriplegic.
  15. That picture tells the story, about 3 or 4 inches below the top of the back, which is over the spine. Its a meat hit and that deer is still walking.
  16. Great to hear Doc! Get out there and put one on the ground!
  17. The tags they gave out starting Nov 1 were already available before that, people just didnt apply for them, so they were left over. They didnt just decide to add more after they were all out of them.
  18. With that angle, Id say high lung hit at best. As has been said, you should have an exit wound, hopefully the arrow got pulled out as he was going through brush, that would help. Now, if that deer was quartering away, he may not have hit anything but muscle. I would check the spot of impact for blood, then go to the last place you saw him and look. If you find good blood, track him, if its spotty, back out and call Deer Search.
  19. Congrats! Getting them on the ground is great, isnt it? I got my first from the ground this year as well. Again, congrats!
  20. The reports and taking of them in different areas of the state have been increasing and expanding every year for the last few years. There were threads and articles about them being taken last year.
  21. I understood why ou wanted 10 of them, I just didnt go into too much detail with the DEC. Not trying to report you to them or anything lol. As for what the difference between trading them and buying them goes, you would have to ask the DEC. Basically from my understanding, the DEC does not sell them, therefore you cannot. Its pretty much the same thing as not selling any wild game meat in NY. Their reasons probably have to do with people not profiting from hunting.
  22. DEC confirmed this, copy of their email has been PM'ed to you.
  23. Just saw this on AT. Christopher Kiernan is also a member of Elite's prostaff. Doesnt reflect very well upon them.
