Oh please, you are passing judgement upon others for filling tags. If thats what you are going to do, then dont sit there and get defensive when someone calls you on it. There is no shortage of deer in my area, so Im not worried about filling my tags. See, you sit here and make assumptions on people and its just making you look foolish. Im far from being a "brown its down" kind of guy. BTW, why are you bringing AR into a venison donation thread? It has nothing to do with the topic at hand. Just more patting yourself on the back. : Wheres that worlds greatest hunter thread? You would probably feel right at home in there.

will you take a deer of 2.5 years old or younger?
WNYBuckHunter replied to skyzmine's topic in General Hunting
Sure I have, many of the deer Ive killed have been 1 1/2 year old does. Shot a couple of button bucks when I was still kinda green. I have a 2 1/2 yo 8 point on my wall, my first buck. I took a shot at a 2 1/2 year old 8 point on opening day of bow this year. Missed him, but not on purpose lol. I have changed my rule for gun to an older deer, but I dont have a buck with my bow yet, so any 8 point or better will do. -
Not much wind here other than a light breeze and occasional gust of maybe 8 to 10mph. A lot better than yesterday.

Back in the creek bottom. There are 4 or more deer about 400 yards behind me feeding in an alfalfa field. Been watching them since I could see that far. They are slowly moving this way and if they keep it up will go right by at 20 yrds or less. We will see.

I hunt for many reasons, but mostly because I love the outdoors. I love the sights, sounds and smells of the woods. I love the time to think about things and get my head clear that those countless hours in the woods afford me. I love to comradery of my friends that I hunt with. I love the challenge of getting close to animals, or fooling them in their own back yards. I do love the taste of wild game and the satisfaction of knowing that I brought that meat home, not just packaged in cling wrap and foam either.

That looks like bear damage, coyotes go in butt first lol. This thread makes me think, because for the first time, I am living and hunting regularly in an area with resident bears. I sure hope a bear doesnt make a mess of one of my deer.

Last night I only saw 1 deer, a really nice 10 point across the winter wheat field. I tried getting him to respond to some grunts, and he stopped and looked, but then just continued on his way. Im heading back to that spot this morning.

Sitting over a nicr creek bottom with a winter wheat field behind me and crp in front of me. Winds have slowed a bit. 3 rabbit hunter just came through. Said they saw a nice buck chasing does right by here earlier. Hopefully he comes back this way.

Pygmy, I hear and understand what your saying. Yeah Ive been a little bit of a smart ass in this thread, I am just telling it how I see it though. My opinion is that if we have to make such a big deal to try not to offend anyone, that we are playing into the anti's game. I dont intentionally take gore pictures, that one I posted is probably the worst one I have. I only took it to show a friend my gambrel setup in my old garage. Most pics I have of deer arent gory, but I dont tuck in tounges or wipe off blood either.

I didnt get out this morning, tried to hang a stand this afternoon on the new farm, thought I was gonna blow right out of the tree. That will have to wait. My buddy texted me a pic of a basket rack 6 point he shot today. Said it trotted right in on him a few hours ago. Im gonna go shower up and take my climber over to the state land for the afternoon.

Amen! I dont give a rats patoot if anyone is offended by my kill pics. Im not cleaning them up. Blood dripping, tounge out, who cares. In fact, I find it pretty ironic that this topic was started by someone going by the screen name of gutpile. Well, perhaps you don't give a rat's patoot who sees your photos.. I guess that is your perogative... Perhaps you don't give a rat's patoot about the future of our sport, either... There are lots of people out there who are currently NEUTRAL concerning our hunting priveledges... Some of those folks may turn toward the ANTI side if they witness people flaunting gory hunting pictures.. The idea of political correctness pisses me off as much as it does anyone else, but we don't need to provide the treehuggers and antis with extra ammunition... Riiiiiiight, because bowing down to the anti's demands are going to keep them from wanting to put an end to hunting. : You say political correctness pisses you off, but in the same breath you put up an excuse to follow it. Ive got a really good price on a bridge if youre interested. Heres one of my kills from the year before last. Enjoy!

Go ahead and pat yourself on the back for only killing exactly what you will eat and then stopping, I dont care, but when you start calling people unethical for killing deer or using up tags and donating meat (which IS what you are doing), then dont be so surprised when someone says you sound ignorant. I never mentioned my reasons for hunting, now did I? Jump to conclusions much? Again, NY sold you the tags for you to use them, partly for population control, which is why they hand out a certain number of DMPs each year. Oh, and I guess you didnt look down below my screen name before you started in with the weak attempted screen name insult.

That deer almost looks like a yote if you just look quick lol.

Then again, guys that hunt out west make shots like that on Mulies, etc.
-
If you say you hunt just so you can eat the meat, you are full of it. If you are hunting just for the thrill of the kill, you have problems. If you cant accept that some people enjoy hunting for reasons other than what you enjoy it for, you are ignorant. There is absolutely nothing wrong with donating meat, or filling all of your tags. NY sold you those tags to use for a reason. Good lord, can you guys get any more ridiculous with your self righteousness? :

Congrats to him and congrats to you as well!

I just started getting my new camo together, as my cold weather gear finally met its end last season. I decided to get away from the "high definition" style camo that to me, looks like a big dark blob in the tree, and go with something that is a little better at breaking up the overall outline. I chose to get Predator Fall Grey, which should be good for treestand hunting and later season still hunting, especially if theres a bit of snow. I bought the Warp Knit Insulated Parka and Bibs. I will give a review on how good they are once I put them to use. Its been quite a while since I bought new cold weather gear, and Ive been dealing with stuff that had non working zippers for a few years, so I am really looking forward to having some decent stuff again.

Ohio Hunter Arrows Monster Buck With Crossbow
WNYBuckHunter replied to First-light's topic in Bow Hunting
Yeah I thought it was just a misunderstanding. -
That would be great! Put a dead animal nearby so it really stinks near there for added effect.
