  1. Completely dead for afternoon watch. One squirrel. Nearly hit a doe and fawn on drive home coming out of my neighbor's driveway. Sent from my Pixel 3 using Tapatalk
  2. Out for a post black Friday shopping trip hunt in 3g. Cold wind from North, but probably mid 30s. Sitting over some sign on an oak bench and hoping to see some movement. Been a bleak last week or so, so probably could have left bow in the truck. Good luck to all out there. Sent from my Pixel 3 using Tapatalk
  3. Battle not with monsters lest ye become a monster and if you gaze into the abyss the abyss gazes also into you. Don't take the bait. Good luck tomorrow and selling the mower. Sent from my Pixel 3 using Tapatalk
  4. I think you are on the other side of the Hudson from me. I'll stomp really loud. Maybe that will work. Sent from my Pixel 3 using Tapatalk
  5. Absolutely dead. No movement at all. Giving another five then going for a walk about to stir something up. Sent from my Pixel 3 using Tapatalk
  6. Out in 3G again. Action has been poor last few days. Only deer I have seen since Sunday was two does bedded in my neighbors yard last night. Sitting some food this am, hoping that I catch someone munching. Heard a pack of coyotes yapping off in the distance. Not a great sign. Regardless, great to see another sunrise in the woods. Good luck to all and a happy Thanksgiving to you and yours. Sent from my Pixel 3 using Tapatalk
  7. Out for a quick sit with bow before 9am conf call. It's been dead last few days. Other than a lone spike on Saturday, nada. Good luck to all. Sent from my Pixel 3 using Tapatalk
  8. Ditto. Might hit this pm as rain is supposed to lighten before sundown. Sent from my Pixel 3 using Tapatalk
  9. Spike just moseyed through. Hope his big brother follows. Sent from my Pixel 3 using Tapatalk
  10. Out again in 3g for a morning sit until 10. Older son has his all State concert this pm and gotta get moving. Much cooler AM than yesterday. No wind. Hoping a mature buck slips up this AM. Good luck all. Sent from my Pixel 3 using Tapatalk
  11. Out in 3g with bow for a quick pre work sit. Warm and south wind. Bumped nothing on walk in and no movement in dark. Squirrels are out. Good luck all. Sent from my Pixel 3 using Tapatalk
  12. Not sure where you are located in the state. If you are around 3G region and interested in a climber I have one that you can take. Was given to me as a gift a few years back. Used it a few times and just could never get mentally comfortable in it. I need my feet planted on Terra Firma. PM me if interested and I can give it to you. Sent from my Pixel 3 using Tapatalk
  13. Lots of new great advice posted already. Subscribe to Randy Newberg and The Meateater YouTube channels. They have lots of great short vignettes to help get you started (field dressing, caping, quartering and butchering). Oriented more towards western hunting but applicable for Eastern whitetail as well. Get on the DECs website for 3G and 3N. That will show you maps of public lands within a short drive. I would highly recommend learning the land yourself rather than relying on others for spots. It will take longer but you will learn more in the long run and be able to more easily apply what you have learned to other new spots as you expand. PM me if you have any questions. Good luck. .... Also, if you have room for a beer cooler in your apt you can definitely bring a quartered deer home and butcher it yourself in your kitchen (also assuming you have an understanding significant other). Differing opinions abound on processing yourself vs using a butcher. I highly recommend processing yourself if you have the time, but to each his own. Sent from my Pixel 3 using Tapatalk
  14. I was the same boat as you. Solo hunter, no one in my family or friends hunted to learn from and using predominantly public land. Early season I learned to find funnel and pinch points between buck bedding and feeding areas. Once the rut started I stopped hunting bucks and looked more to pattern does. Use the wind to my advantage to find spots that a buck would check in on does. Hunt common doe travel points that a buck would likely cross to pickup a trail. Once regular season opened, find the nastiest thick stuff that a buck would hole up in for cover. Anticipate where pressure would come from and where they would try to escape. It's not easy and I still have a lot to learn. Other advice I would give is put some does on the ground, if you haven't already. Gets you comfortable making a shot before the buck of a lifetime appears. The first shot I took at a buck was a mile off because of target panic. I hope this helps. 15. Sat for a few hours till dark. Lone squirrel was the only thing moving. No shots heard at all. Out of town for the week for work. I will give it another run next weekend. Sent from my Pixel 3 using Tapatalk
  16. Out in 3G. Overlooking a doe bedding area and wind in my face. Dead quiet. No shots and looks like public land is quiet. Good luck to all out there and congrats on some awesome deer. Sent from my Pixel 3 using Tapatalk
  17. My fault I missed the title of the post. Nice buck. Sent from my Pixel 3 using Tapatalk
  18. Awesome. 3G? Sent from my Pixel 3 using Tapatalk
  19. I forgot to hunt! Stayed home for the opener as the public lands by me were overrun. May do a drive by tomorrow to see if the parking lots are packed again. If they look light I might go for a PM sit. Sent from my Pixel 3 using Tapatalk
  20. That is a bummer. I hope the karma pays off for you tomorrow and you get the deer of your dreams (and it runs straight to your car so you don't have to drag it). Sent from my Pixel 3 using Tapatalk
  21. Phone died mid afternoon. That's a wrap on archery season for me (though I will continue with bow in regular season). Action kicked up around 2pm for about 30-45 minutes. Group of does getting harrassed by something in brush. Never saw it. Tried calling him out. No dice. Stopped by 3pm and then nada through sunset. I am sitting out tomorrow while Yosemite Sam invades the public lands around me. I live too close to the city and these public lands get overrun by Yahoo's tomorrow (probably on line buying their shotgun tonight). Maybe hit it again Sunday PM. Great season overall. Good luck and stay safe to all those heading out. Sent from my Pixel 3 using Tapatalk
  22. Quick catnap. Woke up to something pushing a young doe around. Only see the body in the brush. Guessing the unicorn came back. Sent from my Pixel 3 using Tapatalk
  23. Unicorn just walked through nose to the ground. Sent from my Pixel 3 using Tapatalk
  24. As alive as the woods were last weekend is as dead as it is now. Switched up spots. Didn't kick up anything or spot anything on move. Sitting near a doe bedding area to see if anything moves midday. Good luck to all out there. Sent from my Pixel 3 using Tapatalk
