  1. I called for my youngest to confirm all his education was I. Order to get tags this fall. The woman on the phone said they start mailing them all out on August 1. We will see. Last year I never got mine and had to get reprints from my town clerk. Sent from my Pixel 3 using Tapatalk
  2. Amity you know means friendship. Sent from my Pixel 3 using Tapatalk
  3. Appreciate the congrats and the offer. I will definitely hit you up on when we next host on some advice. It's like wine now. Sent from my Pixel 3 using Tapatalk
  4. Was going to head out of Montauk again today to try my luck again. Thought better of it. Yesterday, the mouth of the harbor was packed with googans running in and out like the scenes from jaws. Nearly run down from behind by a 40 foot transient boat from Brooklyn in a no wake zone. Hit the water for some calm by the ocean at the beach instead. Saw one yahoo casting in a group of people catch a scup. No one had any idea what it was. Weird Montauk day. Fog at the ocean. Bright sun on the sound. Sent from my Pixel 3 using Tapatalk
  5. Yeah. I live 10 mins away in Patterson. I am no longer a drinker but every time I walk past that cooler I am amazed at all the choices of beer today. When I stopped drinking it has pretty much bud, Coors, on an expensive day Heineken and a cheap day Schaefer. If I still drank today, I'd go into brain lock in front of coolers like this. I feel bad when we throw a party today because I have zero clue what beer to buy for people. Sent from my Pixel 3 using Tapatalk
  6. Yup. I grew up during the moratorium. I don't think I even saw a Striper until I was in my late 20s. I thought they were a mythical fish. I hope we don't go back to those days. I have noticed that the fish have become more finicky. During the boom after their recovery, it seemed like you could throw a bunker chunk in and pull one out five minutes later no matter time of day, tide, etc. Now, I don't really have much luck but flood tide at night. Good luck the rest of the summer. Sent from my Pixel 3 using Tapatalk
  7. Nice fish. Drifting eels? Sent from my Pixel 3 using Tapatalk
  8. Tight lines. I saw a few boats bring in some cows yesterday. I might hit tomorrow night. Sent from my Pixel 3 using Tapatalk
  9. Today's sea bass, tonight's dinner. Fresh sea bass fish cakes on toasted buns, fresh corn and watermelon. Sent from my Pixel 3 using Tapatalk
  10. Out on the ocean again in Montauk. Slow start but ended up keeping 9 or so sea bass, one bluefish, and a nice sized fluke. Tossed back a ton of shorts, sea robins and a dogfish. Beautiful day out east. Sent from my Pixel 3 using Tapatalk
  11. Homemade. Pretty much followed this recipe. Very good. https://steelehousekitchen.com/venison-carne-guisada-yea-tortilla Sent from my Pixel 3 using Tapatalk
  12. Venison carne guisada, carmelized onion, fresh cilantro on toasted tortilla. Sent from my Pixel 3 using Tapatalk
  13. Thanks. Bigger sea bass in today's catch. Anything that needed to get measured was tossed back. Fishing my father's boat. Keeps it in the marina next to the Viking. Sent from my Pixel 3 using Tapatalk
  14. Round 2 from Montauk today. 7 keeper sea bass. Tons of shorts, sea robins and one fluke that was a meal short of being a keeper. Great day on the ocean. Sent from my Pixel 3 using Tapatalk
  15. 9 keeper sea bass off Montauk with the missus, our boys, father and stepmother. Plenty of short bass and fluke. First time out this season. Beautiful day. Fish are cleaned, vacuum sealed and freezing. Sent from my Pixel 3 using Tapatalk
  16. I can't help west of the Hudson, but Spuyten Duyvil train station in the Bronx has free parking and is a 25 minute train ride from Manhattan and 2 stops away from Yankee stadium. That's where I park when I am going to the stadium. Sent from my Pixel 3 using Tapatalk
  17. My favorite place on Arthur avenue. Sent from my Pixel 3 using Tapatalk
  18. I have mixed feelings about this. I think (which my bride has always told me is when trouble starts) that out West, the dfw / dec equivalents all have the authority this bill attempts to convey. They seem to do a pretty decent job of management, without the interference / bureaucracy of legislative bodies. You are right, though, that power in the wrong hands can go bad fast. 19. Fluking has been slow all the way out in MTK. Lots of shorts. I think sea bass just opened up last week and have heard that has been good (all throw backs while season was closed). Will be out there myself in a week. Sent from my Pixel 3 using Tapatalk
  20. Not at a boat ramp but at a launch. Idiot didn't realize that there was a ten foot high jetty extending from the shore to the harbor light entrance. Tried to cut between the lights and shore at night to get into the harbor. Impaled his forty foot boat on the jetty. Two days later they needed to use both hoists to pull the boat with all the water that had entered it. After 45 years on the ocean, I think there is an inverse correlation between the cost of a boat and the intelligence of the person operating it. Sent from my Pixel 3 using Tapatalk
  21. Could be, all I know is he was wearing a Rich Garces jersey. Sent from my Pixel 3 using Tapatalk
  22. All I know is there is some jerk with a dislocated shoulder and a Matthews sticker on their bag that never holds the door for me at GCT. Sent from my Pixel 3 using Tapatalk
  23. I must walk right past you guys. I come in the 43rd street entrance and usually walk across to track 11 or 13. Sent from my Pixel 3 using Tapatalk
  24. I skipped work to go to the Rangers parade and then went to The Piper's Kilt in eastchester to watch the game. Ended up watching the split screen with Tom Brokaw giving play by play on the chase while the Knicks won game 5. Quote of the night came from my buddy at the time, "I don't know who this AC Cowling is, but that's the best friend a man could ever have." Sent from my Pixel 3 using Tapatalk
  25. Venison Korean slow cook bbq. Served with green onions and sprouts over sushi rice. First time trying it, no left overs so it must be okay. Sent from my Pixel 3 using Tapatalk
