  1. So, I went out this am for Muzzleloader carrying all my reloading accessories in my pocket, as always. I didnt see anything ( unfortunately), but in case I had and actually took a shot, I felt very unprepared for a follow up shot due to the location of my reload accessories. On my home, I bought kind of like a Fanny pack for the reload canister, my bullets, primers and white hots, plus the ramrod endpiece; maybe this'll work for me , but now, Im carrying an additional pack , too. Where and how do you carry all of your accessories for Muzzle while in the woods?
  2. The survivors definitely learned something from that encounter, though- didnt they!!
  3. What do you Guys think of this story? Its so shocking that this kind of crap is making a comeback- and, being promoted by the Left!! To be honest, I could care less as a True Conservative, Im leery about the Govt intrusions on peoples private lives. To me, Im ok with them having their racist party, AS LONG AS its also acceptable to hold a "Whites only" party, right? Somehow, though, I dont think they'd like that!! https://nypost.com/2023/12/14/opinion/michelle-wus-segregated-christmas-party-shows-the-lefts-views-on-race-are-deeply-regressive/?utm_source=url_sitebuttons&utm_medium=site buttons&utm_campaign=site buttons
  4. I agree and, usually, go for that shot as well; my Grandfather always loved the neck shot for some reason ,though.
  5. Agree w/ everything you said, but, wouldnt you agree that suburban/ Park acclimated Deer are more comfortable around humans, as long as their behavior appears to them to be non-threatening, and wont be as easily be spooked as compared to an Adirondack Buck ? Granted, there are fewer and fewer "true" Big Woods Deer in todays world, but the few that remain, that have, truly, never laid eyes on a person in their lives, are gonna freak out if they do make contact with someone, arent they? In contrast, Deer that inhabit, maybe, a WMA or county park with alot of hikers are accustomed to people walking/biking, etc. , around and through their turf, probably ona daily basis, so, theyre not going to have the same reaction to observing "a person", right?
  6. Yeah? Maybe, but what benefit would that offer them if hearing is compromised to move around more?
  7. I dont think that windy days are all that productive to hunt, anyway; deer are spookier cuz their hearing is compromised.
  8. I agree; so, it depends more on OUR behavior when theyre around us than the fact that theyre around us and make contact w/ us, correct? I remember reading an article in D&DH where a hunter described his tactics for getting a wily farm buck; what he did, was, observe the deer for awhile before even trying to hunt him. Through his observations, he noted that the Buck was NEVER alarmed by the farmhands being around in the fields performing farm chores like mowing, baling, etc, despite the loud noises made from the equipment. As a matter of fact, one of the hands would blast Spanish music really loud while riding on the tractor. The hunter, then, used this info and drove to his spot blasting spanish music , noting the deer were conditioned to that noise and didnt alarm them. Cant do the same thing, though, with a big woods deer , so, I guess theyre harder to hunt , overall?
  9. When considering Deer behavior who reside in State parks and/or suburbia , where they continually make contact w/ humans as compared to their remote deep woods brethren, do you think one group is harder to hunt due to this difference?
  10. You guys remember that video of the buck with its whole upper back and shoulder laid wide open? Somebody posted it on here a year or 2 ago and I heard it on internet recently, too. As he walked, you could see minute detail of the muscles and bones in his upper shoulder moving; wonder how long he lasted....
  11. Definitely!! always a struggle to try and juggle Muzzle season and hanging Christmas lights, decorating house, and getting all the baking done. Just finished doing the decorations last nite so, good to go!!
  12. Watching their behavior during Rifle over the years-and how, after opening weekend they, quite literally, become Phantoms- doesnt surprise me in the least.
  13. I'm, actually, goin out Wed, morning early for the 6 day in NJ , hopefully. Teachin an online class, currently, so , took the day off to go out. I'm gonna try to scoot over mid day today and set my stand in a spot.
  14. If we're #1, then California has to be a close 2nd, right? I see on the news they arrested a dude in Ca for shooting at home intruders; can you believe that?
  15. And then blame rightwing extremists for the shortage
  16. Guys; yesterday, went to David and tried to purchase ammo for my Grandfathers old 300 Savage and guy says they dont make regular anymore cuz its an older Make/Model Deer Rifle. Any recommendations where I might purchase this?
  17. Ohhh, thats a sweet setup, right there!! I would use that puppy to ride to my spot-put the climber in the cart!!
  18. Agreed; this season, I'm subscribing to the "More is less" maxim and am tryin to lighten the load I haul in. Sleds a good idea, I think; just keep it in the truck and if you get somethin, go back and get it? Either way, theres never gonna be a perfect scenario, but thats likely, what i'd do if i purchased one.
