2023 Season in the books. How was yours?
Northcountryman replied to Four Seasons's topic in Deer Hunting
Wear your snake-bite proof boots down there!!! Best of luck -
Yup; same here. Cart might be good for certain situations, but I dont see it working if the ground is real uneven; same with a sled.

Hearing Protection When Hunting
Northcountryman replied to airedale's topic in Hunting Gear Reviews and Gear Discussions
Not a bad idea; maybe I'd opt for a pair of ear plugs ,but when do you put em in? You gotta be able to hear your quarry approaching!! So, I i hear something coming, get my riflew up and ready, THEN put in my ear plugs right before pulling the trigger?? Ugh!! lol -

I used to use a .410 as a kid for squirrel hunting; loved that gun -
So, I went out this am for Muzzleloader carrying all my reloading accessories in my pocket, as always. I didnt see anything ( unfortunately), but in case I had and actually took a shot, I felt very unprepared for a follow up shot due to the location of my reload accessories. On my home, I bought kind of like a Fanny pack for the reload canister, my bullets, primers and white hots, plus the ramrod endpiece; maybe this'll work for me , but now, Im carrying an additional pack , too. Where and how do you carry all of your accessories for Muzzle while in the woods?

Deer familiarity w/ Humans: An advantage to Hunters or no?
Northcountryman replied to Northcountryman's topic in Deer Hunting
The survivors definitely learned something from that encounter, though- didnt they!! -
What do you Guys think of this story? Its so shocking that this kind of crap is making a comeback- and, being promoted by the Left!! To be honest, I could care less as a True Conservative, Im leery about the Govt intrusions on peoples private lives. To me, Im ok with them having their racist party, AS LONG AS its also acceptable to hold a "Whites only" party, right? Somehow, though, I dont think they'd like that!! https://nypost.com/2023/12/14/opinion/michelle-wus-segregated-christmas-party-shows-the-lefts-views-on-race-are-deeply-regressive/?utm_source=url_sitebuttons&utm_medium=site buttons&utm_campaign=site buttons

I agree and, usually, go for that shot as well; my Grandfather always loved the neck shot for some reason ,though.

Deer familiarity w/ Humans: An advantage to Hunters or no?
Northcountryman replied to Northcountryman's topic in Deer Hunting
Agree w/ everything you said, but, wouldnt you agree that suburban/ Park acclimated Deer are more comfortable around humans, as long as their behavior appears to them to be non-threatening, and wont be as easily be spooked as compared to an Adirondack Buck ? Granted, there are fewer and fewer "true" Big Woods Deer in todays world, but the few that remain, that have, truly, never laid eyes on a person in their lives, are gonna freak out if they do make contact with someone, arent they? In contrast, Deer that inhabit, maybe, a WMA or county park with alot of hikers are accustomed to people walking/biking, etc. , around and through their turf, probably ona daily basis, so, theyre not going to have the same reaction to observing "a person", right? -
Muzzleloader Opener In The Southern Zone 2023
Northcountryman replied to landtracdeerhunter's topic in Muzzleloaders
Yeah? Maybe, but what benefit would that offer them if hearing is compromised to move around more? -
Muzzleloader Opener In The Southern Zone 2023
Northcountryman replied to landtracdeerhunter's topic in Muzzleloaders
I dont think that windy days are all that productive to hunt, anyway; deer are spookier cuz their hearing is compromised.
