Isnt that many places to hunt there, though is there? I thought Long Island was too packed with people!!

I hunt because it reminds me of my Grandfather and all of the great times we spent together in the woods. When Im hunting I feel closer to him- nice feeling !!

I was introduced by my Grandfather back in the early to mid 70s when he would go squirrel hunting. When I was real small, I would accompany him as an observer only; later, when I was around 9-10, I used his old .410, bagging ,my first Gray in the woods outside of Massena just down from the old Alcoa plant. Great times- Some of my fondest memories of childhood .

This is something I have not done (to date), but would love to try it sometime. Couple guys in my club told me about an old lean-to that the state built on DEC land up near our camp. One guy said he always wanted to hike in there and spend the night for the gun opener , but never did. Its really not that far back in to the bush -maybe a mile- so, might give that a try next season. First, I gotta make sure its still there, Major problem in todays world, of course, is finding a spot where you can , actually, pitch a tent and setup a temporary camp. If youre on private property and have permission, then no problem; if not, most publicly owned properties have rules regarding that and may not allow it.

Sadly, my boys are playing like crap last 6 weeks of the season , so aint no way thyere gonna win ( the Eagles ). For the NFC , Im kinda feeling SF will make it, while in the AFC im thinking Buffalo will finally get there, with the Bills winning it all; Who you got?

Obesity, in general, was a rarity back in those days cuz life was harder. A lot of those guys were better still hunters back then, too which is far more physically demanding then sitting in a tree stand.
