Happy birthday... Have a great day.
-
Hell no, she's family. We knew she had issues, but she deserves a better life then she started with.
-
Well, the portable dog fence didn't work. She was out of that in seconds. Stuck her nose in the bottom and lifted it up. Lol. Can't fasten it in anyway without putting holes in the new flooring, and that's not going to happen. So in the crate she went. Only barked for about 45 minutes this time. Ear plugs were deployed.

Can't thank Otto enough. I'll walk Stella tomorrow morning in the garage and into the driveway as much as she can handle it. This poor gal has seen enough BS.
-
PM sent. Can't thank you enough. HNY forums come through again.
-
Yes, two other rescues.
-
What size booties? She's 10 months old. I'll gladly accept them if they fit. PM me and I'll gladly pay the shipping. Socks will be deployed tomorrow morning.

She was born in mid February. So probably a mid April to May adoption. So my thoughts that she has never seen grass is a correct assumption. That said, even in the past month or so, the only thing she has felt is a concrete floor. Can't tell everyone how this pisses us off. No puppy deserves that. It reinforces our thoughts that she was a kennel pup. Makes us that much more committed to helping her become a family member.
-
Think I figured out some of the issues. Took her out just a couple minutes ago, but as soon as her paws hit the snow ( dusting), she laid down. Her paws couldn't take the cold. Poor thing. My other dogs don't have a issue until it's in the teens or lower. Thinking doggie boots might be the answer, IF she keeps them on. Thinking things got a tad more challenging.
-
I was thinking about trying that. I was thinking since I believe she was in a kennel or a room, and never been in a crate, that the crate might be giving her anxiety. So I picked up one of those 3' high portable dog fences, and put it up in the LR. If that doesn't work, we did get some earplugs. She did better today. Only one tinkle inside so far. Everything else has been outside.
-
She deserves our best attempt to make her a great addition to our family. I've already taken her messes outside so she can smell herself outside. Tons a praise when she does good. Negative response when not so good. She laying next to my chair sleeping at the moment. As soon as as she gets up, I'll take her out.

Thinking of putting some cheap vinyl flooring on a sheet of plywood and putting it outside. Might be the warm floor too, so it may not work, but worth a try.
-
The couple of times she did go outside, I certainly did praise the heck out of her. At 10 months old, she's past the "picking up" stage, lol. I've been taking her out every 20 minutes. Nights have been challenging. Don't think she's had much interaction with people, and she wants to be next to me all the time. Definitely doesn't like the crate. Last night was 2 solid hrs of barking before she quit.

Oh, and this is not my first rescue, just the first I've come across this situation.

Oh boy. Got a tuff one. Just got a 10 month old yellow lab. We were told she was " mostly" house trained. NOT... I believe she was in a kennel for most of her life. I can walk her outside for hrs, and within minutes of her feet hitting the floor inside, she goes to the bathroom. Buddies son lives in Boston, and his dog will not go to the bathroom in a lawn. As soon as his feet hit pavement, he goes. Thinking she's going through something similar, but didn't have a great first 10 months. She is the sweetest thing. Sucks she got a raw deal. Wife and I are up for the challenge. But suggestions are welcome.

Happy birthday TF....
-
Wife keeps calling her Stella, so I believe that's the one.
-
Wife likes Stella also. Did you pick a name for your pup yet?
-
Just got a sweetheart of a yellow lab. She's 10 months old. Getting along just fine with our other dogs. Former owners really didn't name her. They called her Blondie, but she doesn't even react to it. So the search for a name is on.

Pull Behing Utility Trailer
mowin replied to buffalojim's topic in ATV's , UTV's, Dirtbikes & Snowmobiles
I've got a ploy trailer. Think it's a brinly-hardy. 22 cf. I use it for my landscaping business and stuff around the house. Firewood, stone, hunting. It's been through hell over the yrs, but has held up well. -
Lucky, we tore the carpet out a couple months ago. Shop vac took care of the 2” layer of needles fairly quick.

We definitely learned what type of tree NOT to get.
-
We got the tree the weekend after Thanksgiving. We use LED lights, so very little heat from those, but we turned the lights off just in case a week ago. No baseboard heater behind it either. I watered it every day for the first week, then it just stopped absorbing water. Definitely won't be getting this species of tree next year, as I think that was the issue.
-
Well, used a different tree local live cut your own tree this yr. I called it the cactus tree. Why? Well, it wasn't a pleasant experience decorating the tree. It felt like decorating a cactus. This is before ( posted in the show me your Xmas tree thread). I watered this tree every day, until it wouldn't take another drop. This is after I removed the decorations and lights.

Leah disembowels any stuffed toy in seconds. I get a bacon flavored hard bone from tractor supply. It's the only toy that lasts. She loves em.
