Neither have I but a buddy of mine actually hit a deer in the face with the bow few yrs back. Great guy. Ethical hunter. Deer was broadside, but looking at him. Hit a twig and seen the arrow hit the face. We tracked that buck for a mile. A yr later during rife, he shot that buck. Had a broken off arrow a broadhead embedded next to the jaw. So it does happen. I just don't think painting someone as a hack hunter because they hit a jaw is accurate.

So true. Faster the arrow, the More accentuated the flaw will be.

Agreed. Many were/are obsessed with the speed, and the arrow flight suffers if you go just a tad too fast for the spine of the shaft. It's like the never ending debate on which penetrates better, speed, or weigh of the arrow.

We're in the SZ. Never used shotguns. Did a ton of drives thought. But our drives are a slow deliberate type. Shot some nice bucks on drives.

As not to muddy up a old post, why do you think the person who hit that buck in the jaw is a hack hunter? What proof do you have? This could have been a very respectful and responsible hunter that just had a little bit of bad luck.

Again, how do you know its a hack hunter? I've hit twigs I didn't see in the scope. Lost a great buck few yrs back that dropped in his tracks at the shot, only to get right up and run. Never found that buck. And I'm by know means a hack hunter.

Stiffer spine usually means a heavier shaft as long as the length is staying the same.

Without knowing the details, how is this person a POS? Bullet could have hit a unseen twig and deflected.

When I worked as a archery tech, the most common reason for poor BH/arrow flight was due to improper spine. Trying to get as much speed as you possibly could has its downfalls. Had more than one guy get incredibly pissed off when I recommend a stiffer arrow. They didn't want to loose 10/15 fps. Lol.

I've got the big kitchen aid stand mixer. Had less than 4hrs use. Bought the grinder attachment, and the bearings in the mixer lasted 15 minutes. Those that have used there's for yrs are lucky. Get a grinder.

4U only had 300 tags, and I believe half of those were for landowner or VETs. Most didn't even bother trying for one as the likely hood of getting one was low. Don't understand why they only have 300 for this unit. It's infested with deer. Drive down the back roads in the evening and you will Easily see 50+ deer, and that's only a couple roads. This area is so tuff to get permission to hunt. Tons of 100+ acre places owned by dowmstaters that don't like hunting.

Checked the mail yesterday and low and behold, there's a DMP for 4U. This is the first yr I a long time that there was DMP's available for other than landowner or VETs. It was my first choice and I wasn't successful. I still get to keep my preference point for next year also.

I made it a few yrs ago. Didn't care for it personally, but my brother and his family absolutely loved it.

If I'm on stand worrying about the wind having a effect on my arrow or bolt, it's too dam windy to be hunting.

Parts are not that cheap, and unless one has the time, knowledge, and tools, dealers shop hrs are far from cheap. Like snowmobiles, they definitely get more expensive this time of year. -
