I've got a few wellsummers. There eggs are almost chocolate in color.

Lol, sucks getting old, doesn't it.

You definitely want the coop off the ground or it's going to rot quickly. Blocks or 3 PT 4x4s would work. Both my coops are on 4x4's. Can't remember, does the roost and root have a floor? Client had one but she passed, and I no longer do the lawn care.

Fender washers with screws. Or sandwich HC between coop with another board. Another reason not to bury it is the bottom edge of your coop will then be covered with dirt and rot quickly. I'd also put the coop on blocks to help air flow and potential rot.
-
The problem is the staples can still pull out if something is trying to dig in even if the stapled edge is buried. Rocks help, but are not needed if you secure the HC properly. Also, grass will eventually grow through the HC, making it invisible. You'll be able too mow and trim up to the coop and not even know it's there.
-
Also, don't use staples to fasten the HC to the coop and run. Either sandwich it between a furing strip with screws, or use fender washers with screws. Staples are easier to fail.
-
Perfect. I've had coyote, coon and a stray dog try to dig in. They all failed. The fox and coyote didn't see another birthday. Dog got a pass. Roost and root... Not cheap.
-
Also a simple easy run to make is from cattle panels. Mine is covered in HC and half the run is now covered in a tarp. This pic was taken during the building process several years ago.

Chef, don't use chicken wire. It's easily torn and breached. Use 1/2"x1/2" hardware cloth or some sort of welded wire. Chicken wire is good for keeping chickens in, but not predators out. I've got HC 18" out from my coops.

If there's very little in the tank, add some. Could be fuel to low and under the pickup line.

I'm confused. Cranking and turning over, Both describe a engine that is trying to start. Assuming the engine is cranking(turning over) but not starting? Or is the starter cranking but the motor isn't?

I'm not so young... getting difficult to get up and chase these critters. It's the excitement the new or first timers that get me excited and not ignor the alarm clock.

What a great sequence of pics. Hopefully that was the tree rat that busted you and alerted the huge buck that was only moment's away from walking past your stand...while you were in it, lol.

3rd year Taxidermist looking to mount your trophies (capital region)

I think I've met you... can't place where? Lol. -
Awesome. I hope you connect. I might have a opening the second week. You interested in another chance at a Columbia county gobbler?
-
Lol, I guess I'm as guilty. Shame on me..

Watched them for around a hr. I've hunted this property for over 30 yrs, and have never seen them in this little field this time of yr. I've seen them in this field every other morning for the last 10 days.

Turkeys are also on the list of critters that a fisher targets. Several years ago I roosted a big tom in a big hemlock. Next morning I was 60yrds from that tree. Was misting rain, but he was very vocal and tommy started gobbling. Seen some movement 20 yards to my left and watched a fisher climb that tree on the opposite side of the tom. That thing stalked that tom, and only moved when he gobbled. The tom was probably 20' out from the trunk on a large limb. Dam fisher was inching closer on the bottom of the limb, but the tom spotted him and flew off. I killed that tom later that morning sitting by the same tree I watched the fisher from. I know it was the sametom because he had two tail feathers missing.
-
Photos suck, probably 150+ yards out. Through binos, I watched the same tom breed 4 hens. There were 3 other toms and a few jake's and around 14 hens.

Great pics. I don't think those are golden eagles. They have a black beak. Looks like yellow is starting to develop on the beaks in your pics.

Sad the direction our country is headed. Glad your buddy is ok.

Calling all electrision's... Is this box worth anything?
mowin replied to mowin's topic in General Chit Chat
Thanks for the info. I knew it would have limited applications. Don't see these in house's, lol. I know it's a shame, but I'll probably scrap it. Called a couple places, and they didn't have any interest. -
Client is having some buildings demolished. This cutoff box has two 400amp fuses. I've already stripped the wire out of it, but wondering if this box it worth saving

Got one decent run 10 day ago. Lucky it got cold and froze solid in our building tank as we didn't get another run till this past Sunday. Boiled down 500 gal Monday. Hopefully we'll get another run end of this week. Been a PITA with all this wind. Constantly walking the sugarbush fixing lines.
