  1. Shin pond pub... Oh the stories...
  2. I've taken two in Maine. First was with a outfitter, we hunted out of Escort Station. The second I hunted with a buddy of mine who set up the bait sites. Fun times.
  3. Lol, We were going to go out to dinner, but decided to make blu cheese bacon burgers and stuffed mushrooms. Happy anniversary...
  4. I like that. My current deck is about 8' from the pool but like yours, probably around 16" lower than the top of the pool. Was thinking about running 2x10's on top of the current deck up to the pool.
  5. So do I. Got married older in life.
  6. First swing is in the books. Enjoyed it very much. Definitely have to get the deck extended. The stairs suck...
  7. First swim will be later this evening after my wife and I get back from our 12th anniversary dinner.
  8. Temp is up to 72°. Hazy sun today, was hoping it would get up to around 76° by afternoon. Solar cover has been on, but don't know how effective they really are.
  9. Water is 56°. Think I'll wait a day or two.
  10. Took them about 6 hrs to excavate the area and install the pool. So far, not including chemicals, my free pool has cost me $2400. Electrician is coming tomorrow to go over code. I'll do most of the prep work to try and keep the cost down.
  11. Like grampy, we had a great crop last yr, and this yr is the opposite. Never get the chance to hunt around apples, as they usually drop before the season starts.
  12. My mom loved cardinals. The day she passed in 2004 we had a male cardinal fly repeatedly into the living room window. Bought our current home in 2018. Every spring, there is a male cardinal that repeatedly flies into our garage window where my smoker is parked. My smoker has been named Elizabeth Ann in honor of my mom since I purchased it in 2014.
  13. That's the one I was thinking about getting. They have a in-line and a off line model.
  14. Opossums don't eat ticks. Matty has already posted the link to a study supporting just that.
  15. What chlorinator do you use? Getting a floater with the pool, but thinking about adding a Hayward chlorinator.
  16. If I was lucky enough to get a P&Y or B&C buck I'd enter it. It would probably be the only one though after that I really wouldn't care, unless it was a top 3 contender. Hell, the money from sponsors would be nice. if this doesn't get me banned, nothing will. Lol.
  17. Obviously her supervisors feel differently.
  18. So, those that have a pool, what are you using to clean it. This comes with a brush and a skimmer/net thingie. No vacuum. Do I need to get a manual vac? Or is it worth the cost for a robot vacuum?
  19. My stepdaughter just graduated with her master's this May in hospital administration. She put out feelers in her field. She took a offer close to 100k and can work from home whenever she wants.
  20. Well, it's ours. Install could be as early as middle of next week. Got all the info needed for electrical code. Biggest PITA is bonding the system. I'll post pics once it's installed.
  21. Electric isn't difficult. Pool requires a dedicated 110/20amp GFI outlet 6' from the pool. I already have a 20amp cutoff box and the wire.
  22. Yes, were on a well. Never had a issue, but 11,000 gal is a lot of water.
  23. I contacted the company that sold the pool and installed it. Cost for them to install is $1500, and probably another $1000 for water. So $2500 for a new pool doesn't seem too bad. I'm sure extending my deck to the pool is not going to be cheap, but we can use the stairs it came with for this season, and hope lumber prices drop some by next spring.
