  1. Told him it should be close but better be safe to just back out.
  2. Finally something in daylight. I had a buck making a rub and scrape on the other side of some brush 80yrds away. I could see his legs and the tree thrashing. He turned and walked the other way. Won't be able to go in the morning. Got a text while I was out and one of .y friends shot a good buck but hit a little far back and high. So we are going tomorrow at first light to track it. We think it's not to far because a doe went to where he last saw the buck and she was stomping and snorting at something. Going to give him time regardless since it's cold.
  3. Just got back from our family day. Grabbing bow and a chair and sitting somewhere close for the last hr.
  4. Pissed this morning woke up at 3 with a migraine so bad I could hardly see so I went back to bed and missed this mornings hunt. Looks like a great morning good luck to those out.
  5. Yep freezer is empty. If she is acting like something is following her ill let it go.
  6. Thanks. This new style of hunting is harder but like last year I have to remember my scouting and just trust what I see.
  7. Time to hit my opening day spot again. I'll sneak in early tomorrow setup well before daylight. I'll be really close on the wind but I was on the opener and still had one of the big boys come in the dark and bed right behind me. I can only sit until 9-930 but I hope I don't need that much time.
  8. Nothing in pa this morning couldn't hunt as long as I had hoped brothers surgery was done earlier than expected so I was out of the stand by 830. Going tomorrow morning. It's been a rough year to start for me. I haven't had a deer walk past me in daylight yet. However it's been very warm and when we do get a cool morning or night I'm I'm work. I have sometime coming up and have a very itchy trigger finger.
  9. Hope its a good day. My brother has a routine operation tomorrow so I'm dropping him off at 515am and he won't be done until 1030. Going to go across the border and hunt one of the scrape lines we found for a couple hours.

  11. I'll be out the next couple days just not there wish I was.
  12. There chasing. Friend said he had a good buck chasing does all over the place tonight. Jut couldn't get a shot off.
  13. Waiting to see if my shifts got approved but if they did I should only work 1 day if not any from the 11th-24th. Also have another possible full week left of time still so it maybe a 3 week stretch if I can swing it and boss approves it.
  14. Friend was saved by the farmer. Came in to spread crap and the deer ran back into the woods so he got out without bumping them.
  15. It's 3 properties that back up to a river with business in front then a main road and agg on the other side of the river. Almost 100acres and nobody has hunted it in years. Just stumbled into the right situation. But he has 1 massive 8,2 10s 1 wide 1 narrow and 2 identical 8s that 8 very tall. The big 8 and two tall 8s were in the field today. Also anything 80inch and up is a shooter for us.
  16. Update he's got 3 of his top 5 shooters at 65yrds now with no bow.
  17. Just got a text from my friend he went to check scrapes real quick he joked he would see his shooter because he forgot his bow. Well he's standing 65yrds from him with it walking his way and the only way out is right into the field he's in and he doesn't want to bump it. When I mean big it's this guy.
  18. Being in PA this past week I learned a couple things. Like hunting those hills suck and are very hard, deer numbers aren't as high as I guessed and need to learn more about hill bedding and hunting also needing to focus on 1 or 2 areas and not 4 or 5. Biggest lesson learned was with pressure around bedding and scrapes. We scouted the edge of a swamp that really had my interest. While scouting it I came across a massive scrape about 3'x4' with fresh tracks in it leading right into the swamp. While scouting it and before backing out I had a guy randomly running through the woods ran right through the scrape and right along the edge of the cattails for about 200yards. So I left because his scent trail and scent blew into what I expected was bedding. So to me I thought this area was done the scrape wouldn't be touched again for awhile. We went back Friday and scouted again just to see if we missed something else in that area. We came in farther into the swamp and came across 4 more huge scrapes and a 2ft wide path into the cattails. We eventually made it back to the first scrape I found on day number 2 and it was destroyed and now had several rubs around it. We were suprised he came back so soon granted we don't know if it was daylight or not. It was just interesting to see that even with us being in around the scrape and a guy running around the swamp and into the scrape it didn't seem to affect him much. But first out of state hunt so we learned alot about new areas and what each of us need to work on to take us to that next level. I will use what I learned on this trip for future hunts there and around my area for early season.
  19. Saw 1 unknown this morning. Saw enough squirrels I could of fed an army. Rubs are starting pop open and I reopened a scrape from last year. Did the same thing last year and they kept it open all last year. Might go out for a midday scout tomorrow to check for more rubs and scrapes also might put some more cameras out.
  20. While I was in pa just south of Binghamton this week we found 20-30 fresh scrapes and hundreds of rubs. We did find what looked like a buck had been chasing a doe. Ground was all tore up with every tree rubbed in the area. 1 buck we saw was a 2.5 year old while scouting his neck was all swollen up.
  21. Yea she is and that's why I spoil her every chance I get.
