  1. For those of us that have rails..lol. Here is a cool idea and a great sale. http://shop.customgunrails.com/Laser-Engraved-Aluminum-LEA_c86.htm?page=all
  2. You did what you felt was right. I had a situation a few years ago here in Pa during doe season.I shot a monster farm doe that would have yeilded a large amount of meat. She had a wound that was partly healed.Gutting her did'nt seem to show any signs of anything wrong,I tagged her and off to the skinning pole she went. While skinning her I got near the wounded area and the closer I got the stinkier it got.She was green and nasty.I called the PGC,which I live about 10min from the NE Regional office, and they told me to bring her out, they would inspect her and issue a new tag, which they did.I feel as I helped her end it without all the suffering.I did not get another doe that season, but that's ok.I have seen a few that had to suffer long before they died. You did good.
  3. "you will have to wait over 360 days to try again" That's depressing.
  4. I have the same gun (the wife does) and it works flawlessly,Over oiling can be real bad for any rifle. All good recommendations have been given.Let us know how it works out.
  5. I quarter, debone and wash then put in large cooler with ice for a week with deer. My bear ,back in 79,hung for 2 weeks with hide on,cavity washed. It was super cold, talking single digit nights and teens/20's day temp. Was told by butcher to do this,to allow rigor to set in and come back out.Best meat/beef flavor. No problems.
  6. If deer dung, probably old.New dung is black and wet/moist looking.
  7. Hahaha...I assume you are resident hunters?......try spending $290 for your ss and a point for a DMP and not getting it, and not getting a deer to boot.It is what it is .Maybe next year.
  8. That is one helluva rifle. I really thought long and hard and came real close to grabbin it,but as others have posted, this young man shout be a wee bit more greatful and give it a whirl.
  9. 244 Rem Mod 722 w/Sierra HPBT or older Rem Mod 700 7mag w/140gr Core-Lokt PSP

  11. Best I can offer you is to try this...have someone OTHER than yourself, work it,with YOU being far away and have them and yourself pay close attention to how it was used and what it sounded like......my, 2cent.
  12. Shipping is usually ~20 from FFL to FFL,(normally) dont really matter what state, transfer at my local is another(usually $30, I have a lot of recipts, would need to look to verify)) What is the best you can do on it? EDIT: Quite possible I could pick it up/transfer at your location.I am @ exit33 81 PM/Email pics if ya could please.
  13. Awsome timeline, awsome buck..thanks a bunch for sharing such a great story. Well done.
  14. Since my cabin is a half mile IN the woods literally,I wait till just before legal time and actually sit at the outside table with a coffee sometimes...I wait for legal time and take my walk down to the stand by the river nice and slow.I like to hunt every inch I can to my stand, because it's all good.Every situation I am sure ,is different. At the Pa. cabin with 50K ac of bordering game land,we used to walk for 1hr prior to being on stand,to be there atleast 30min before sunrise. It sucked. But we either saw or shot big bucks, and saw no orange whatsoever....the normal hunter won't travel that far.Topo maps, years of hunting there and atleast 2 working compass' in your pocket and the knowledge to use them makes for excellent hunting,in most cases.
  15. That is fine in most scenerios.I do it every time I can. BUT there have been times the neck shot was ALL I had.....dead deer end result. I'm talking standing deer, close shot, looking at me or a off to the side etc.,never from a rest and always off hand.Usually a snap shot, bring it up,aquire the hairs on the target and shoot. No I am not a trained sniper, but well pacticed off hand.Military back ground, state police certified with a hand gun, and a private shooting range year around practiced.Do I aim for the neck on every deer I shoot...no.I do my best not to take that shot, but if it is all I am presented, you betcha, that IS the shot that will be taken...and that is high in the neck, not center or low.But never a head shot.
  16. Well come to Pa get drunk and sit sleeping in a Kmart lot with the keys in your pocket...you will get charged with dui. I know this.
  17. A quick search... http://www.duiattorney.com/dui-basics/private-property/
  18. http://www.ehow.com/info_8412731_happens-open-container-violation.html
  19. Here is more food for thought on that buddy that wants to have a cold one while you are driving. http://www.legalmatc...s-by-state.html EDIT: I had a DUI many moons ago.....won't do it again, trust me,you CAN"T afford it. In Pa they can go back 10 years by law.
  20. I dunno about NY,but in Pa you can and will get a DUI if you are on public or private property and have the keys on your person,in your trunk,up in the tree, don't matter. What I mean by private property is for instance, you figured you would sleep it off somewhere other than your own property.Just because the keys are not in the ignition does not mean you have no intent. You can't prove you won't drive, and they don't need to prove you have intent....you are drunk, therefore you lose.
  21. Keep getting this after the video download finishes. The size is under the max allowed and the same file format AVI as the one that did go through OK.
  22. Some video from the river cam. EDIT: trying to post 3 more vids but not working. videocam river NY #2 004.AVI
