  1. After hunting breakfast. Sausage, pepper and onions omelette with pepper jack. Hash browns.
  2. Hunt #6. Lease in 7F , light to 10am. In the way back stand. Didn't see a thing. Dead quiet. Pulled card from cam that sat there a week and not a single pic.
  3. It wasn't Winston Churchhill it was Benny Hill so he got a pass. Yeah it cert happens like that. Dunno of it's you mind wanting to see one so bad or what but was looking at a spot for 10 minutes thinking it was a deer.
  4. Nothing like two rifle shots on the neighbors prop to make you think wtf.... Gonna call it for the am
  5. I've been staring into this brush so long I'm starting to get magic eye..... So far I thought I saw a deer and Winston churchhill
  6. Out on lease.def over dressed. Sweating like hell on the way in. Gonna stay til about 10. Looks like rain this this afternoon....
  7. Did you find out if they are open for wild game ? I checked website and still no further info except closed.
  8. Congrats. Always wanted to get one NY bear in my life too. Glad your ok !
  9. Hunt #5 on spot in 7J. Never got to hunt it last year as it was an active cow pasture. But have never sat here and not seen deer at least. Saw 3 doe all out of range, 2 turkeys and a beautiful gray fox. Always see deer here but most often out of range. Did tag a nice doe here on the very first time I hunted it in '17. But don't hunt here often as it the farthest drive for me and can only hunt it on an East wind and afternoon.
  10. Sounds like a humble and we'll grounded boy you've raised. He'll have better days to come but learned more today than if he got the deer.
  11. That sucks esp not knowing. I once hit a deer high. Looked for hours in the morning and found 6 spots of blood. After looking one last time saw a belly in a creek bed. I hit him real high and the arrow was still in him but I could see it when he took off. Maybe it was just a graze as the arrows are going so fast if they touch anything they make a noise. Tough one to figure
  12. Changed mind and am in 7J spot. Got pretty warm and this spot is good for an east wind and can get in stand in 5 minutes. At least until your bow rope get tangled and you drop your binos..... Didn't get to hunt this last year cause it was a cow field during season. Season before in 17 was first time here and shot a nice doe first night. Usually see deer here but tough to get in range. I moved this stand 10 yards closer so hoping that helps a little. Good luck everyone and congrats to those that have dragged one today
  13. Pm sit have decided to go to "big buck "stand in 6S. Was gonna save it for later in season and hunt a spot in 7J , but can't pass it up. 3 sits in it last year and 3 tags filled on an East wind. So gonna go for it early. Don't expect that streak this season but it's a good spot. My buddy Corey @FISHDO went last night and dropped his bow and broke his sight. So he's got a replacement and resighting back in. I keep telling him he is never gonna get approved if he keeps pulling these hijinks! I think he should get approved for the entertainment value alone. Lol
  14. Hope he finds it. Yeah I would go before dark and glass and hope I spot it and if still alive make a play on it for another shot. Yotes are bad around here. If shot I the evening I would def wait overnight, no other choice. Good luck Don. Hope to see you with it in a pic
  15. I tend to agree on that. He said he was gonna wait an hour. Was thinking that too to wait 10 hrs but then it's dark and would be overnight. But where I hunt the yotes would have it by then. So I would make at least a shot at it with 2 hrs of light left. Lots of bino work to see if I could spot it from distance. A gut shot deer left for 24 hours here is coyote feed as much as I agree on this with you.
  16. Hunt #4 on 7F lease in Roadkill stand. Saw a fisher at 6 yards but not a single deer.
  17. Id give that deer a solid minimum 4-5 hours and look for it with 2- 3 hours of light left in day. Let it lay and expire and then look. If you push it too soon you will just jump it. It's prob laying down somewhere right now. Hope u walk out and find it but I would give it a good wait esp since it was an am shot and you have lots of light yet. Good luck
  18. Ended up on different stand due to wind. Had a Fisher at 6 yards but couldn't get phone out quick enough for a pic
  19. Headed out in a couple 6 minute drive to lease. Am sure a lot of folks out today. Good luck all. Wind direction change has me stymied a bit but going back to lease and gonna hunt the far back end.
  20. When I used to fish lakes in the dacks a lot the wind would push you one way then halfway down the lake it would go the other way. Comes off those mountains and swirls the opposite way.
