  1. Hunt #44. 1:30-dark. Littlefield stand. Saw nothing. Haven't hunted back here much as it's been so flooded plus been having action at other stands. A ton of tracks and sign. Esp into the little cornfield by the road and would guess that's 99% at night. But too close to property line and road to gun hunt it. Pulled cams on that side also. Will have to look thru them they've been there a while.
  2. In at a little 9 ft stand we use for bow mostly. Planted a food plot here and it is long gone. Lots of deer sign on the way in. There is a nice scrape 12 yards away. No shots here over 38 yards so brought the 12.
  3. Hunt #43. Point stand dark -10:45. Saw and heard nothing. Pulled 5 cams on way out. Very little on those. Last buck was a 6 pt on 11/25 at night. A few does here and there. But def less activity as usual this time of year.
  4. Congrats John. That ass looks like it needs a good corning! Lol. Ruebens!
  5. That blows. Was hoping to hunt on Jan 1 just cause.
  6. Beautiful calm morn. Hoping to break the calm with some loud boom noise!
  7. Not getting a good shot at one of those bucks is just gonna make it even more rewarding when it does happen and give your son a better appreciation of what it takes to get one. He's gonna be hooked for life just like the other generations there! Can't wait to see him get one and all your smiling faces.
  8. Lol. I will work extra hard sat and sun to get one for ya!
  9. had the day off but now live from the office. I now have M and T scheduled off - hopefully. Good luck out there all.
  10. i would say that during the season there are many factors to determine this, and others rather than dark and light, that lead deer to whatever bedding area they are at. Deer are going to bed more according to the the changes in food availability - which changes as plants die, cover - which changes as leaves drop, hunting pressure - which changes significantly from bow to gun, etc. I dont believe its a pick of dark vs light all that much as it is due to the rest of the environment. If deer are laying in fields at night it is prob mostly cause they are noctural and feeding there and then lay there. Not because it is dark out and seek out a field, its the food/does that brought them there. During light they tend not to be in the fields anyway and will most often be in thicker areas beded for the day- not considering rut activity. Also bucks get run down over the rut and might tend to bed closer to food for the rest of the season as its available at the end of season. Do deer bed more often in a field at night? yes probably because of feeding and checking does during the hunting season at night.
  11. They take them to processors that are in the venison donation program
  12. The best part is your seeing bucks during gun season! Which is more than a lot of us "seasoned" hunters can say. The more opportunities the better chance to fill out a tag. Sounds like however your hunting your doing it right if your seeing them just haven't sealed the deal yet. Good luck.
  13. cool pics! and they lay in rest together in your freezer too!
  14. Happy Birthday ! hope its a good one! @mowin
  15. there are 4-5 real scrapes on this already and we have a dripper on one and have put down scent several times on others. Most of my cams are on scrapes that they use every year. Good idea! and we are on it already!

  18. Well I do have fri-mon off. But as far as seeing any bucks it's getting slimmer and slimmer. Will do my best. Pretty much any buck will do and a maybe on a doe.
  19. He is wacky. Corey shot under him with the bow, I've seen him at 50 with the bow and 80 with the xbow. We have a ton of pics of him. He's got a big body but some odd horns for sure. At this point I'd prob take him if he shows up again. I have a feeling he's the one I saw walking out Tonite.
