For the experienced scorers, just curious what this Mule Deer would score? It has 7 points on the left side, the 7th point is a 2nd brow point that is just over an inch long. It has 5 points on the right side. The spread is 24". Once again, just curious on some approximations on Gross/Net. Thank you in advance!

Could be 2 misses? -
Yea, I hear ya. If I get a mule deer, I will have to put it far away from my whitetails lol.
-
Really nice Mulie! I'd be more than happy with that next week while I am out there for my first Mule Deer. Do you measure it?

Sounds awesome. Post the pics! I was advised to be 2-3" high at 100 yards. I think I am hunting more flat land than you did. I will be hunting near Buffalo, WY (North-Central Wyoming). Who is the guide you went with? I am flying out Saturday to Denver, Denver to Sheridan.

Sounds like a good trail cam spot.

I know a big fat guy who eats all day long while hunting. His favorite food to bring in the woods is peanut butter sandwiches and apples. He usually brings 5 sandwiches a day and 5 apples a day. Sometimes all his food falls out of the packages and out of bookbag. Those are usually the days he gets a big buck.

I believe its up to the shooter. If I saw more bucks, Id be more picky. Many years I dont see a buck or I might see 1. If I see more than 1 different buck during the shotgun season, it was a great year regardless of whether I got one or not. Being able to hunt 8 miles from where I grew up (my parents house), makes it really convenient.
-
I hear what you guys are saying and maybe when I have taken more bucks I will be more picky. I dont hunt archery season, whereas the neighboring guys do. I cant hunt during the week due to work either (November/December busy season). I pass spikes and 4's on opening weekend but after that I take them. This 6 would be 2nd biggest NY Deer behind an 8 I got back in 2007. I can't turn him down opening morning. Im saying 3N doesnt have as many big bucks because we dont have great food sources. I hunt nowhere near a food plots or farmlands. I hunt behind houses on a small parcel of land. Houses at our backs and we watch 2 small valleys (I watch one, my Dad watches the other) and pray for the best.

Im hunting 8 acres (not a typo) with hunters all around on the neighboring properties and houses nearby. Any buck is a good one where I hunt. No AR's where I hunt in 3N. Some lands have it, but not this piece.

Must be nice!

Yes, there are some. But not as common as places like western NY. These are all Putnam County Bucks my Dad has shot. None of which are the elusive 10pt.
-
Agreed, thats why I am saying 10+" so over 140 for sure....could be around 150
-
I'm not great at scoring, but here's a comparison. This a 8pt my Dad shot in Texas that score 129 and change. I would guess that your buck is 10+ "

For sure. But I only go in once every 3-4 weeks, and make sure to spray down, etc as if I was going in to hunt. So far so good, I have no reason to believe that the cam has spooked anything yet
-
It doesnt matter how disabled you are, you cannot use a crossbow during archery seasons no matter what. They refer you to this page > http://www.dec.ny.gov/permits/25018.html Anybody know where you can get a modified longbow? I might be able to qualify with my shoulder injury.

Cool, thanks. Not bad at all for 6 animals. I'd love to go for a leopard but appears quite pricey.
-
Congrats on the awesome trip & trophies. Just curious what did it cost you, all-in?
-
Thanks for the info. 1st year using a trail cam. Pretty cool stuff, luckily not stolen yet. Found a circle of rocks and remnants of a camp fire about 150 yards from where this cam is.
-
I hunt on 8 private acres between properties of other other hunters. If hes still around and I see him on 11/17, hes going down. He'd be my 2nd biggest buck of NY
-
I got a doe on cam that is twice the size of the body of this buck....i left that card in the cam though, it only had 5 doe pics on it. The doe looks like its a horse.
-
Coo, thanks. I hope you guys are right....that would be cool to see a young deer with that many points in my area.... I believe this is the same deer, from the side....if this helps you guys at all?

In 3N we dont get giant bucks. No food source...most 1.5's are spikes or 4's at most. The 6 is probably 2.5 I guess. My Dad shot a 7 last year, that was a 3.5, aged by the DEC at the butcher. (below)
