  1. Just curious....how old do you think that odd 6pt is? 2.5 or 3.5?
  2. Checked my cams for the first time since Labor Day Weekend. The spike is still around, as is the red fox. Had a bunch of pics of does as well. Looks like the spike lost his velvet already? Got a clearer pic of the bigger buck. Looks like a unique 6, with 3 on 1 side with no brow. 2 on the other side with a brow. Hoping to see this guy opening day of shotgun. The camera is between where I sit and where my father sits. If a buck is headed in my direction, my Dad usually lets it go to me, but if its headed away from me, my Dad will take it.
  3. Cat mounts can come out bad if the taxidermist sucks..
  4. Thanks man. Yea I heard the WY antelopes arent of the 15-17" variety but they have great mass. I dont know much about b&c scoring, but I think with Antelope its something like 2 length measurements and 8 circumference measurements. Regarding Mule Deer, I heard ear to ear is like 20-22". I definitely want the deep fork mule deer look. I see some Mule Deer have antlers like whitetails almost, I definitely dont want that.
  5. Yea, Im using a Weatherby 7MM Mag. 154 grain (if i remember correctly). My Dad is using a Weatherby .270 Mag
  6. Yea after this year, if I ever go back out west it will be for an Elk. But that will be years from now, as Im already booked for Mt. Lion/Coues Deer in Arizona, Bobcat in Minnesota, Deer in Pennsylvania, and Lynx in British Columbia....
  7. Where I hunt (3N), any buck is a good one. I only pass spikes and 4's the first weekend. I would hate it if AR's came to 3N. They are already in place for some DEP lands in 3N.
  8. Not positive....but I think Colorado has OTC Elk tags?
  9. We are flying in a day before the guide picks us up since we wouldnt have gotten there before dark if we flew in the we are being picked up. We are staying in a motel near the airport and the guide will pick us up early the next morning. We will have plenty of time to make sure our rifles are still sighted in. The guide has a full shooting range on his property. I'm sure they make you shoot to see how you hit, before letting you just go out and take crazy shots at animals. Have it written down at home, but im like 2-3" high at 100, still rising at 200, dead on at 300, 8-9" low at 400
  10. Yes, but they are close to 100%. The outfitter took care of the process for me, once I gave him all my info. Antelope tag is $286, Mule Deer tag is $566.
  11. Yea, I've seen a few of them. I shot a small one in 06' and got a full body mount. COME ON MAN! Millions of trail cameras out there, millions of hunters out there. Dont you think if there was even just 1 out there, that somebody who have gotten a pic of it or killed one? On a serious note, I see you live in NC. Do you have any land to hunt? I'm willing to pay, PM me.
  12. $1250, sounds awesome. Too bad its so far from me or I would have thrown in.
  13. Not amazing.....absurd! I'd go ballistic if I shot a deer over 140" in NY.
  14. Never got a PM ? ? Anyway, Update: The house is under contract for $32K, looks like the state will finally allow the sale.
  15. Crazy story and your very lucky to be alive. Good luck with the surgeries.
  16. What or who is that? Yes, I will be bringing a digital camera.
  17. Everybody is missing the bigger point. Why does this Marino guy still have a goatee? Nobody still rocks a goatee, its 2012!
  18. what does a 16" spread have to do with hunting PA? The AR's in PA is either 3 to 1 side or 4 to 1 side depending on which part of the state your in.
  19. not sure how the deer population is in Orange County, but that looks like a pretty good deal.
  20. Whether there is a gun season or not, people are allowed to walk around with shotguns for small game. As kid when I could only hunt small game, I would walk around in blaze orange hunting squirrels. Many times I came across bowhunters in trees in full camo.
  21. I dont even have any friends who hunt, so a DIY would be just me. My Dad would rather stay in a lodge/hotel as opposed to camping out, etc.
  22. Louie the wrench, Louie the chin, Stevie slapnuts, etc.
  23. The licenses were killer (over $850 for my 2 tags). The Shipping I will find out. My first priority is the cape and horns for taxidermy. However, I will probably ship back some meat from both animals and donate the rest. I know we could have done a DYI for cheaper, but for the first time (for me) going out there. I want to have a high success rate on a 5-day hunt. Maybe someday down the road I would do a DYI. Might be a better option if I was going with more people as well. Hotel, Rental Truck, 3 meals a day, etc all adds up anyway.
  24. I figure that doing the Mule Deer and Antelope on the same trip saves me $ on the hunt, and also not flying two times and everything else that it would cost for 2 trips. Originally, I only planned to hunt Mule Deer, but the combo wasn't much more $. It came out much cheaper to both one 1 trip. My Dad is also going, but only for Antelope. He has 4 Mule Deer and 2 Antelope already.
