Some people look at it the opposite way, they take < 3" spikes so they count on doe tags, but still count toward their career tally of bucks lol.

never hunted in a tree stand. I am completely not-scented and dont use scents/attractants/etc. For opening day of shotgun (3N), I will get to my spot around 545am, this way if anyone comes close to me i can flash them away with my flashlight. I usually see deer opening day before light. Its always frustrating watching deer before its light enough to see if they are bucks or does.

Thats ridiculous, no need to do that or memorize the hours. If someone stops me I will say I only shoot between 10am - 3pm, leave me alone!

I just use everything non-scented. Was my clothes non-scented, spray down before walking into woods. I use non-scented body wash, deoderant, toothepaste, etc.......just 2 weeks ago in PA, I had 2 deer eating the bush I was sitting against on the ground.

sounds like this deer wasn't worth all the hassle, etc.....why even bother shooting a deer if there is going to be controversy, courts involved, etc...

I still think its better to get in before dark as opposed to walking in during daylight. I get in the woods before dark, and leave after dark.

I hunt 8 acres where the deer dont see any people except me/my dad each hunting season. we dont even go in their throughout the winter, spring, summer, etc to scout.....we go in the week before gun season to make sure our spots are clear of fallen trees, etc...and thats it. for 350+ days per year these deer have these woods to themselves, 1-15 days per year there are 1 or 2 hunters in these woods. No achery hunting or small game or predator hunting, etc.

Yes, I saw that at Dick's in Danbury, CT. Didnt buy it, since I wasn't sure if it was legal or not in NY, and if it would even benefit me or not. I guess midday of opening day I could put it 50-60 yards away near the trail I watch with the shotgun.

Anybody ever use "Special Golden Estrus" by Wildlife Research Center? Comes in a 1oz. bottles with 2 wicks. Have a couple of questions. 1. Is this legal in NY? or is it considered baiting? I have never used scent lures or anything hunting. Only stuff I have ever used is non-scented spray, etc on my clothes. 2. If legal, How/When do use it? I assume you put it on a wick and put the wick somewhere near a trail your watching, etc. My question is when do you set this up? I get in before dark and watch trails and a valley that I never walk into or through, so I wouldnt want to walk down the valley 40-65 yards and set this up, since I often see deer before shooting light, so I dont want to spook them. Should I walk down in there to set it up there say midday, so its active for the afternoon and next morning? Thanks in advance.

ya never know....I've seen red fox chasing deer, and had red fox come flying into doe bleat calls....not sure a red fox could do anything to a deer, but they do go after them.

how can you not legally hunt on 20 acres? If you own all 20 acres and are 500ft. away from other peoples houses, whats the issue? I hunt on 8 acres, and have hunted on smaller tracts.

Hopefully they are moving by opening day of gun season for me. I saw a spike in my backyard by himself the other morning.
