Do you have anything constructive to say or are you going to just make personal attacks and then claim well most guys don't mind if we use are scoped crossbows in all of archery season. Well yea if you insult and bully every one on here that says they do mind or disagrees guess what your not going to have to many guys saying anything against it . If you want a longer crossbow season why can't I get a longer gun season then? Everyone wants a longer season . See what I mean .

" Hunters must possess a muzzleloader stamp So talk to new york State about it legally in new York State crossbows are not considered archery either yet . Don't you think you guys are getting ahead of yourselves with this full inclusion talk ?

I have had a crossbow since I was 13 years old the first one was a Barnett demon . Probably most here have no idea what that is it's so old from the 80s lol The opinion that a crossbow gives a unfair Advantage goes back to the Pope in the Middle Ages who ban Them lol When you say most guys don't care it all depends how much you are into archery hunting and not other weapons . A lot of guys me included just want to hunt more so we learn archery to do that . But it's not the end of the world for me . But some guys really just want to hunt with a bow and they don't want them in there season just like a gun hunter would probably not want a machine gun in there season lol It becomes a arms race that some people don't want to be part of .

I respect your opinion but a lot of guys don't feel that way just saying there are, guys that don't even like compound bows let alone crossbows in early archery season . Here is a joke I heard the other day ,a recurve hunter picks up his friends compound bow as they are hunting from a ground blind shoots and kills a deer at 100 yards and says nice rifle does it come with a scope ?

Yes I saw, it on washingtonpost.com the lady was walking her dogs now I can see mistaking a dog which has four legs for coyote and maybe a deer if it's running through the woods but in a open field but he manages to shoot the lady not the dog ? What a retard

You no in this day in age especially in new York anytime you do anything with a firearm they make more of a big deal about it then if it's some kids playing around with a crossbow.

Well At least on private land you can start planting crops and plants that attracted deer so eventually you should have good hunting there and put up a cabin or house so you dont have to get up at 2am to drive 4 hours to get to it .

I dont mind spending the time in the woods when i have the time. The point is no time .

Like I said because of politics it will never happen lol anyone with private land can create the right habitat to attracked deer and for them they don't see a problem . But for people coming from the city and hunting just state land it's a problem and one of the reasons you got less hunters . It is what it is . Maybe it always was a problem but these days people are caught up with other things they can do with the little free time they have . I remember a whole lot more cars on opening day 20 30 years ago I was thinking less hunters hunting maybe longer season to attacked more back into it .

I know I'm in the wrong spot but it happens to be the closest spot to drive to and I don't always have time to drive to the better spots and I'm sure I'm not the only one with that problem

True and you also will probably have to hunt a week to see anything because everything is spooked or pushed away

Don't know exactly because you have local laws that just deal with firearms not crossbows besides the fish and game laws . But I can bet you they will slap on a extra charge or trest you more harshly if you do that crap with a gun .

Its Illegal to have a loaded firearm in a car let alone fire one from a car and depending where you are at they have firearms discharge laws in town limits in a lot of places

Yep not to mention if you do it with a firearm from a car your breaking a whole bunch of laws besides poaching . So less of a risk for someone to do with a crossbow

If it was up to me I would have the archery season set up on order of difficulty recurve first then compound then crossbow . And i have all 3 and have used all three crossbow compound and recurve, like the compound better then both the crossbow and recurve why because I am better with a compound then the recurve but like the light weight and handling of a compound bow over a crossbow even if it gives you more range. But I still rather hunt with a gun if you could do that in all deer hunting season. Seriously If there was no different seasons how many guys would really use a bow over a gun? Bet you 90% would use a gun it would be like having bicycles compete with runners in marathons .

And you don't think a poacher will not us a crossbow like a gun with a,scope to take a headshot or neck shot to the spine? With a spot light and not have to worry about the sound of a gunshot?

Just a idea I had that will never happen because of politics. Was thinking that having a longer gun season for deer on state land would help get more guys into the sport . Since newbies get discouraged by not having private land to hunt on and not enough time to hunt which you can go a week on state land before you see anything . And lot of guys don't have the time to hunt a lot of the season .

Just wondering we know logging would help deer but what animals like mature Forest? Exactly. Anyone know? Or would be hurt by little logging . That the state don't want it at all.

How is more crossbow hunting promoting hunting? I rather hunt with a gun in its own season or a bow in bow season and a crossbow in crossbow season and muzzle loader in that season. And if you can not shoot a bow because of some physical problem get a doctor's note to use a crossbow in all of bow season . I don't even know why we are having this discussion exactly since crossbows have a season already . If the bow guys want there own time alone that is there business. Why do you even care . I mean if you want more time to hunt deer then maybe you should try to either use a bow or muzzle loader or get a doctor's note so you can use a crossbow in all of archery season Or try to get the gun season lengthened. I think that would probably help promote the sport more then anything a,longer gun season . Since its the most popular way to hunt.

So if they are shooting the deer on there own land in the dark with a crossbow or bow it's not poaching ? I bet you there is more poaching going on that way then anything else . Or maybe not or over bait .
