modern firearm are suppose to be designed to bulge when you use a hot load by mistake Not blow up unless the guy did not notice the bulge in his fire arm and tried to use it again . Well at least that is what the Industry says Thats why it is a Good idea,to inspect you guns barrel after using it .

Coyote or large fox? Opinions please
Hunter007 replied to Helderberg Hunter's topic in Trail Camera Pictures
Yote for sure -
I forget the exact name for it but the native Americans use to make like a type of deer drag cart with 3 or 4 large branches and some rope

Big game packrifle do they make them anymore ?
Hunter007 replied to Hunter007's topic in Rifle and Gun Hunting
They sell the whole gun like that there up there in price and every place you look says out of stock. Look nice but I really rather buy something in a 30 -06 cal -
Well let me put it to you this way my cousins also hunt the 3 hour away spot which for them is more like 4 or 5 hour drive . Over any other place we know because it is the only place we know that we or are friends ever get your typical looking 6 and 8 pointers . They will not even bother with the closer area . But they. Usually stay up there overnight at least . I don't think I will be able to do that this year . maybe I will try doing the 3 hour commute once at least see how I feel maybe get lucky on the first day up there .

I hunt 2 main areas usully one is 45 min away and the other is 3 1/2 / 4 hours away. The 45 min area gets hit hard by hunting pressure but I have a dmp for it The 3 1/2 hour area has much less hunting pressure and a much better chance of getting a buck . What would you guys choose if it was you and you had limited time to hunt and had to be back home that night ? Would you take the 3 1/2 hour drive back and fourth for a better chance at a big buck . Or play it safe and go local 45 min away and boom your hunting .

Why it’s high time to make peace with crossbow hunting
Hunter007 replied to tughillmcd's topic in CrossBow Hunting
True but it would be much easier to start by passing a law for senior citizens and disabled people first something most people agree on . Do it in Little steps will be much easier to pass . -

They should at least make it so anyone over 65 can use a crossbow in all archery and make it easier for people with physical disabilities to just be able to get a doctor's note to use one . -
Something with wheels

I don't know but I always, got the impression that the reason you don't see much wildlife anyplace in ny state is because of human activity be it over hunting or loss of habitat even to many roads maybe . Like in a place like the Adirondacks this could be happing Maybe near access points there is not much deer activity because those easy places to get to have been already over hunted . Maybe the most hard places to get to acually still have a good population of deer in the Adirondacks because very few are able or willing to go that far off the beaten trail . All I know You go out west you see game much more frequently than around here.

Killed while walking her dogs at 5:30, that's dark
Hunter007 replied to Curmudgeon's topic in General Hunting
Why it's more dangerous I don't know if that's true but if it is it's because of more people in less space more then anything else . It's more likely you will die or get hurt driving to your hunting land or climbing to your tree stand then being shot by another hunter . -
You would think a modern firearm would be made designed to take abuse like that at least once .

Why it’s high time to make peace with crossbow hunting
Hunter007 replied to tughillmcd's topic in CrossBow Hunting
Hunting has been going down from what I have seen since the 80s or people just are not going out as much so maybe crossbows in all of archery would not effect much as we think only one way to know try it out in at least part of the state and let's see what happens. Then all of the state and lets see what happens except maybe not have them in areas of state land that are already devoid of life from over hunting . -

Hunter007 replied to Curmudgeon's topic in General Hunting
Ok cool but since you have one Usually do the guys who use those type guns use them with a scope more then not . I only seen a guy once deer hunting with one on state land in my life and it was scoped . Which I'm scratching my head thinking to my self what was this guy thinking . I wouldn't be surprised if this moron was pissed off she was jogging where he hunts and took a shot in her Direction just to scare her not thinking he would hit her . At that distance . You would be surprised how stupid people can be with firearms just look at what you see on YouTube for example . -

Big game packrifle do they make them anymore ?
Hunter007 replied to Hunter007's topic in Rifle and Gun Hunting
Yes I have thought about It also thought of times snaging my rifles on branches which made me lose my footing more then once and falling because if it . And I know from experience with a takedown shotgun and 22 I own use for small game it's a he'll of a lot easier to move through thick woods and hills without having 7 to 10 ib of gun and scope a 3 and half foot long metal object hanging from your back. I just like the versatility of them . When you hunting it's there together when done and just want get back to the road it's packed and out of the way from snagging on branches it's just so much easier to move that way and they feel lighter when carry it that way better distribution of weight. -

Hunter007 replied to Hunter007's topic in Rifle and Gun Hunting
Because I like big woods hunting alone walk miles from road and would like to have less bulk on me when i drag out a deer with nobody around me to help that's why . And for travel and just storage. 30-06 is because i have already boxes of the ammo for my other gun and fathers gun Just rather stick to what I'm use to shooting . And its just a all around good caliber -

Maybe they could do full inclusion temporally at least to study the affects of it Just to see what happens if it does not change things fine Or pick part of the state to try it out to see what happens then if it works out include the rest of the state .
