  1. It isn't "aught 8" as in aught 6. The 06 in 30-06 is the year the AS Army adopted the improved version of the 30-03, thus aught 6 as is often used as a year denotation. The 08 on 7mm-08 comes from the parent cartridge .308, shortened from 7mm/308. Using the terminology 7mm-aught 8 is a sign of ignorance concerning the origin of the cartridge. 7mm is actually .276", the bore size. The bullet diameter of .284 is actually 7.2mm. The 270 Win actually shoots a bullet closer to 7mm (.277") than the 7mm cartridges. This is similar to 30-06 that actually shoots a .308" bullet and also applies to the NATO designation of the 308 as 7.62 x 49. The bullet diameter is .308"/7.82mm. Same holds true for 8 X 57 which shoots a .323"/8.2mm bullet. 8mm denotes the bore size of .315"/8mm. In all cases, "bore size" is the diameter of the "bore" before rifling. Rifling in a CF rifle that shoots jacketed bullets is typically .004"/1mm deep adding .008"/.2mm to the bullet diameter which must be large enough to fill the grooves. And yes I meant 3000 yards. That is what the knuckle dragging "expert" claimed about the 7mm-ought 8. It's more powerful then an ought 6 you see cuz ought 8 is bigger than ought 6.
  2. Maybe we should give more Pell grants & quit gutting public education BEFRORE those people end up in prison? We now spend more to house an inmate than we spend to educate our children.
  3. Still legal is some states. Many if which want to ban gay marriage.
  4. Maybe they made some "home movies". That's the only kind of "evidence" that that would result in an arrest.
  5. I occasionally see a few camel toads at the local bars.
  6. FWIW, the most accurate factory ammo I ever used in the 7mm-08 I had was Federal Premium W/140gr Nosler BT. Likewise, the 140gr Nosler BT was markedly more accurate than the 139gr Hornady SST in my7mm-08 handloads.
  7. 33% bigger as a matter of fact! The young man that I convinced to buy a 7mm-08 as his first gun was chided by his not so clued in father that the 7mm-08 was a magnum & way too powerful.
  8. I like the "experts' that claim the 7mm "ought 8" is more powerful than an "ought 6" & is therefore a magnum. One guy that was spewing this wisdom claimed his brother made a 3000 yard kill with the 7mm ought 8.
  9. First you claimed it could reach out to 100 yds. Even IF you could judge yardage close enough to make reliable hits with a pellet rifle's looping trajectory as yardages approach 60 yds, a .177 pellet would be dismally low on energy to expect reliable ethical kills at those yardages. If you don't believe that, just look up trajectory & energy charts for the pellet you are using. Most .177 pellets will be less than 30% of the weight of a .22lr bullet & have a much poorer BC so they will shed velocity as well as energy much faster & have a much more drastic trajectory drop. My .22 pellet rifle with (very) heavy "Kodiak" pellets will retain enough energy to penetrate a gallon milk jug full of water @ 60yds, but I wouldn't feel confident enough to try shots that long on live game W/any air rifle.
  10. I would like to see an air rifle that would reach out to 100 yds. A 22lr is hard pressed to make head shots on a squirrel beyond 60yds. With an air rifle, even at 60 yds, there would be a tremendous amount of hold over/under to hit a squirrel in the head. I have an RWS Diana M42 & it will shoot fairly flat out to 30yds or so. Beyond that, the trajectory is pretty hard to calculate.
  11. I've seen times in the tall Hickories of Southern Indiana when high brass loads of #6 from a 12 ga were needed when the squirrels were in the tree tops . I switched to a scope sighted bolt action .22lr & upped my percentages significantly.
  12. Holy $hit your delusional rants never cease to amaze me. Allowing women to make their own choice is power and control over them while you REICH wing lunatics forcing your will on them is freedom? You have your head so far up your a$$ that you can probably see your tonsils. What little credibility you have with the less insane member of this forum just took another hit! You should head the old adage that it is better to remain silent & have people think you are stupid that to open your pie-hole & remove all doubt.
  13. So what is illegal about selling fetal body parts for research. Better to chuck them in the dumpster?
  14. That would be income, good old American capitalism. Conserv-a-turds should love that.
  15. So are you supporting employers having the right to fire a single woman for getting pregnant & defunding planned parenthood?
  16. You are comparing already fired (how many times) random brass most likely reloaded with poor components to new Brass. I spend about $.60-$.80 a round to reload my 7mm-08 with quality components & that doesn't include the brass. If you aren't interested, quit being a jerk & go elsewhere.
  17. 11/32" parallel Port Orford cedar, 420-430gr raw shaft weight, 60-65# spine, 3 fletch 5 1/2" burned shield, LW helical, file sharpened 125gr Bear Razorhead.
  18. Yes she was. Unfortunately, financial difficulties led to me selling her.
  19. Winchester makes 1oz 28ga loads that are only a few fps slower than 20ga. They were deadly on my preserve pheasants. The little 5 1/4# Dehann SXS carried like a broom handle & with 28" barrels swung smoothly. I named her Catherine Zeta Jones.
  20. Let's see, drug addiction is considered a disability. Could it be those are the folks with "diminished capacity" being flagged by this?
