  1. I just had to step in. All this mutual self gratification was getting a bit boring. Seems they were getting a bit "flaccid" & needed something to get them "aroused".
  2. Well the absurdity bar was set pretty high by the OP & you haven't come anywhere near high enough. Perhaps we should petition for an Obama 3rd term amendment?
  3. I've killed a bunch of Indiana deer W/a .535. A good % of them W/a stoner. (flintlock) From '76 to about '96, when I won an 870 @ a banquet, I hunted exclusively W/muzzle loaders including a pair of 12ga SxSs , a 36 cap gun & a .36 stoner for rabbit, pheasant, turkey & squirrel.. Reloading the SxS could get a bit "fummbly" when the rabbit would double back on the dogs after a miss.
  4. Why didn't he just title it "NY Dove Hunting Survey"? And didn't I see some Xbow questions? What's up with that? If there were a lot of negative responses, why is that? Are people here against dove hunting or just the way the survey was worded?
  5. The sandblasted bluing on M870 Express pumps is bad about rust.
  6. Tin underlay W/shingles or a metal roof? Tin underlay will still be prone to leak through nail holes. The ice & water shield seals around the nails. Doing the complete underlay was the idea of the guys that did the roof on the garage. I was buying the materials myself so they didn't have anything to really gain by it. When I did the house I just went ahead & did the same thing.
  7. When I had a new deck & roof put on my house & when I had my garage built, I spent a few hundred bucks extra on each to have the entire roofs underlain W/ice & water shield. it will be hell getting the shingles off when it is time to replace them, but I'll probably be dead by then & I haven't had any ice dam leaks yet.
  8. There are 2 flights of stairs going to the 2nd floor & the bear is on the landing between flights. Going up you are constantly over shadowed by it. Going down you are descending into his grasp. Either way you have to turn your back on it to proceed.
  9. I'm afraid that beagle would get mercilessly ground into the turf.
  10. Have you even seen that bear in the Gainsville, FL museum? You definitely have put a crick in you neck to see its eyeballs.
  11. As far as accuracy? That has more to do with the machine work on the barrel. Chamber, throat, rifling & crown, as well as the load rather than what kind of steel the barrel is made of. Blued steel military surplus barrel. This is the typical 3 shot group W/200gr bullets @ 100yds..
  12. With your original pairing of a 270 & 30-06, either would be a good seamless sub for the other. Get the '06 in S/S/synthetic & the 270 in Blued steel/walnut.
  13. While stainless may be tougher, chrome-moly is harder. Stainless being tougher, will resist throat corrosion better than CM but that's only an issue if many many high intensity rounds are sent through the barrel.
  14. No, no & no. Unless you are in Alaska or other high humidly environment S/S isn't all that much of an advantage. I only clean & lube my barrels after hunting season. After I do my zero check I never "scrub" the bore until after season as a clean bore will usually shoot to a different POI. If I get caught in rain, I just run a dry patch through the bore to dry it. I never have issues W/rust. For me blued steel is much more pleasing to the eye than S/S & S/S can be a bit more eye catching to game. Bottom line; IMO (unless you plan on an extended trip to Coastal Alaska) Get what pleases you, there's not any significant difference.
  15. Supposedly, cramps are a sign of potassium deficiency. Bananas are high in potassium & I've seen them recommended as a preventative measure. If you like bananas it might be worth a shot.
  16. To me, they have a much more natural look. They seem to avoid any resemblance to a "pose". My '09 buck & this year's buck have similar racks as far as score but still they differ W/the one I posted having great tine length but a little shy in mass. My '14 has better mass & slightly less tine length. Both are very symmetrical 8-point & I think they will look awesome W/the right & left angle splayed apart yet the gazes will appear to be looking at the same point.
  17. Absolutely correct. And unfortunately, all of these points can be applied to the modern high tech "muzzle-loader technology" Mass marketing of technology for the sake of increasing sales regardless of how it degrades the experience of using "primitive weapons". Muzzle-loader season is now just an extension of rifle season with single shot weaponry. Crossbows are doing the same thing to archery season.
  18. I remember having to sign a log for 22rf ammo @ the local gunshop even before the SAFE act because it was potential handgun ammo. Has that changed?
  19. Well, that's the problem, I haven't swallowed your propaganda. As far as Cuomo goes, he's done. He won't even get the Democrat nomination the next time as he is nothing but a conservative in Democrat disguise that happens to be a gun grabber.
