Two year old cubs all alone probably 120-150.lbs watched what I thought was mom run them off 2 times just snarling and snapping ... she was over 350 lbs .

Well I can't make this stuff up Tried to video but must have missed the button ... came to 5 yds of my stand .

15 degrees in 8Y. Going to be a cold one boys and girls . I'm in .

Had a buck walk through at 50 yds in the brush no clue how big. Had another group of deer 5 or 6 cut short on me traveling next bench down from me. Looked in the big fields on top didn't see any eyes on the way home . Truck said 21 degrees.

In the stand 20 minutes passed a huge doe with 2 tiny fawns at 20. Might kick myself ... that was a big doe.

Out in 8y alot of tracks from last night. Most have snown in them . Brisk north west wind somebody worked a couple of my scrapes up. Packed in a parka and bibs for the sit . More like late season. Truck said 26 degrees ... pretty steady wind . 1/2 mile up the road there was a pretty nice buck out on a field by himself south facing slope. Feeding along.

Have to wonder how many people on here have shot a bear. I'm not so worried about how tough a bear is as much as how much damage a wounded bear can do. I'm all about bang flop dead right there.

Guess I dont know then because the ones I bought last year and this year are crossbow and have orange. Go figure .

The collars for x bow broadheads are a little thicker.. and orange. black is the normal for compounds . Orange come on crossbow marked broadheads. For what it's worth. Black collars wont fit on crossbow broadhead .

But of course...

Yup boot dryer.... forgot to the other day ... nothing like slipping your feet into a nice clammy pair of boots in a crisp frosty morning. Refreshing even .

Best I ever had was quartered ... dredged in flower salt pepper garlic and a pinch of sage . Fried in a cast iron fry pan . Served with eggs hash browns and corn bread . Skin and dress as soon as they hit the ground makes it easier.

Up and out at 5 am . Drove the 22 miles to my property . 20 minutes to 6 I .go to put on my hunting clothes ... I forgot my boots at home on the dryer . SOB !!!!!!.. all l had was my crocks..

The off shot was to prove to my buddy I was on the target. He kept telling me I missed

Well what a difference a day makes . Had little spike and button walk by. No response to calls . Scrape on trail have gone from 3 foot in diameter to bathtub size . I think they are using as a wallow. Finally a consistent north wind .

In the stand after a day off. Rain and honey do....

The rage broad heads I use in my crossbow have two razor blades on the leading edge and 2 expandable blades. The leading blades are more than sharp enough to cut hair . I dont understand how the arrow can be stuck vertical in a tree.

Just a thought could the bolt have been bumped out of the channel..

I have had sights on 6 different bucks in 3 days. From 5 yds to 35. Button bucks to a nice 8 pt . Shot at 8 pt hit a branch ... clean miss. Have yet to see a mature doe . A few yearling does . Not upset yet ... just loving being back in the woods . Back when I could shoot bow , archery was kind of my trophy season . Nice bucks or big mature does . Kind of staying with it with the crossbow . Wish I had more time to hunt before gun season . That's when it's about meat . One thing I do notice is I haven't had time to acclimate to the cooler weather and wind like I use to . More layers than I use to for this time of year. Look at it this way enjoy the time you have regardless of killing and deer sightings. Your not at work and you are enjoying the sport .
