I have a permanent Treestand in a group of three Shagbark Hickory’s growing very close together it’s a great spot in the corner of my field. When we built it I have never encountered wood that was so tough we broke several galvanized large screws trying to fasten to the tree eventually we drilled and that worked but never again. I made the platform large so I don’t catch my arm or bow when I draw as the bark has a tendency to reach out and grab you

Here is Shagbark Hickory very large tree I probably have less than 50 on my property but they’re mostly mature ones I also have quite a few Smoothbark hickory trees. The Shagbark nuts are the size of golf balls. I have a very healthy population of squirrels chipmunks and the turkeys.

I have lots of Hickory trees Bill quite a few giant shagbark hickory. The turkeys show up in flocks in August heavy once they start dropping. Thank these mama hens May have been looking for some early hickory nuts

It’s time to spray to kill everything and fertilize. After about a week til it and plant it before you expect rain.

It’s what happens when you have a really good gene pool which you must have lots of food and cover lots of private property and a willingness to let the little ones go that’s how they get big like this my guess is you’re looking at some four year olds or older. The beauty of it is a few of those will likely make it through and you’re going to have some giants in a year or two truly like Iowa just got a manage to let a few live

Nice corn is looking good. Mine suffered from lack of rain but is coming along now but won’t be as good as previous years I mowed and fertilized 4 1/2 acre plots this past weekend and sprayed them tonight w round up. Going to till them up in next week and plant turnips radishes and brassicas for later season draw. Try and plan to spread the seed just before some rain that’s the plan

Yeah Zag lots of Daddyball coaches out there we have learned to avoid them. We looked for and found former college players who still love the game and who have lived the life of playing at highest levels are the most experienced most important w no daughter on the team. Then they care about all improving instead of just their own kid especially on the local level but in travel ball too.

We play in Jessup Pa on Sunday and staying In Moosic. Not sure of Sunday game time. Hoping we get tomorrow’s games in w rain coming.

We won tonight 7 to 5 which is amazing because we were down five to nothing for five innings then exploded for five and tied them and then eventually beat them in the heat it was a good game for both sites my daughter went O-fer 3 w a walk and run scored and she pitched the last inning in relief. We only played one game but it was good
