looking to go coyote hunting

Anybody plan on doing some coyote hunting around the 3m area this season coming up ? Looking to either go with somebody or get some tips. Ive never done it before but id like to give it a shot right after deer season this year.

When night hunting. I find like 10pm-2am to be the best. The colder the better too, maybe they get desperate for food?

its almost time to start baiting. waiting till after deer season. shawnu going out soon but may not be out late. depends on the weather. with deer season going on, like to be home early for the deer hunters.

I know nothing about dog hunting. Anyone target coyote during the day? Same tactics?i have seen some coyotes duing my deer hunts. Why SO late? Wih I getting dark at 5:00 now, I would think u can get out there in the evening...

crappyice, you can hunt dogs anytime of day. They are most active at dusk and dawn it seems like.I personally like night time because all hunters and dog walkers are home. %pm is fine. The dogs are just starting to really move now and going to their favorite places...

Tx Martin..I'm just having a hard time wrapping my brain around hunting when I can't see. If I figure that out, I would love to hit some open fields where I deer hunt...puppy population seems too be up since I've seen a few from a distance this year. Do you spotlight them and shoot? Two man job? Night vision? Man...the mrs is gonna love all the new purchases I need to make to get into this too.

we use a 10m candle spotlight and one of us have night vision

I would imagine that it can be done solo but it would be extremely difficult and you need a lot of equipment to be self sufficient. Much better if two man team. Use spotlight but make sure you use red or green light as these colors won't freak out animals with night vision the way a hire light would.

Call. Listen for noise. Spotter shines light at location of noise. If coyote, shooter shoots. If not, shut light back off and repeat from beginning.

Calling for coyotes is easy. Getting a coyote to actually come in, is the hard part!

Are there any public lands that you can both hunt and camp on? Or...if I camp on a hunting ground (such as Stewart State Forest), will I get caught?
