Four Season Whitetail's
No that is a doe that never shed her winter coat by the looks of it. Hard to tell the reason. She could have been hurt or sick. If you look close you can see the long guard hairs in her coat and she still has the fuzz around her head and face!
G-Man
look like that to me as well, kept her winter coat a long time.....
fasteddie
I hadn't seen anything like this before . Thanks for the clarification . I wonder if she will eventually shed .
nyantler
She doesn't look all that healthy to me. Look at the mark on her front knee area.. looks kind of mangey to me if you look closely... almost like the hair is gone on the sides of her stomach. Four Season Whitetail's
its a known condition...shell be fine. i forget the specific name.its also mid june.... She should have lost that winter coat in May! She might end up being ok but she no doubt has/had a problem. I have never had one hold their winter coat after may and most times in the wild with more Grass,Branches and such rubbin against them they lose in even quicker. phade
Look at the buck in the second set of pictures Skyhunter posted here http://huntingny.com...he-marsh/then look at the date and other deer in the photo! Precisely, it's not all that uncommon. Certainly not the norm, but not uncommon.
